Getting DT Shortys installed...any advice?

I'm having DT short tubes installed next week at a local speed shop. (I know, but LTs are an issue for me right now). They asked if I wanted to use gaskets or RTV. They recommend RTV instead of gaskets. Claim they use it on their race cars, the owners 5th gen with long tubes a year ago, and it's the way to go. Any advice?

I followed the instructions and used the gasket when I put mine on this past weekend.

Everything I've read so far says reuse the stock gaskets as they are really good.

Yes. Have them re-use the stock metal gaskets.

Do not use RTV....it will make a mess and leak over time.

The OEM's are good for 2-3 reuses and that's it. Aside from that, use them the way that GM created them and you'll be in great shape.

Let us know how they turn out for you and thank you for purchasing Doug Thorley!!!

Do you have a dyno baseline already? I'd be interested to know exactly what kinds of gains the shorties will give you with your setup.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Will definitely have them re-use the stock gaskets. No, I don't have a baseline. Would love to dyno but the closest one I know of is 2 1/2 hours from here at Redline. I'll just have to keep using the ole neck snap dyno.

I re-used my on my LS1 but I did spray them with cooper spray. No leaks for years but I had LT's not shorties.
