Actually, the LS3 is not a former Corvette engine. It's still a Corvette engine, except for the Z06 and ZR1.

That's funny stock for stock an ls3 never took me. Add boost and the control an automatic gives you becomes even more a of a factor. Technology in the aftermarket is just catching up to vvt
See what mast and texas speed are doing with vvt cams.

there is no doubt that a tuned l99 engine camaro with like 600+ HP is going to be better at the drag... but with less HP the manual is a little better.. i didn't get the car for drag racing.. i got a manual for the fun factor and the BA factor... thats all.. and plus i have yet to see a camaro on the road that is faster then mine....

Anyone can hop in a car, hammer the pedal, and go. It takes a true driver to pilot a manual. I don't even give props to guys with autos that beat me, because "they" didn't beat me, the guys that built their car did. Learn how to drive a manual well and you get more respect in my book.

I know auto's typically make less rwhp, but I have never heard of a motor having a different hp rating due to a tranny. Can someone tell me if there is a significant performance difference between the 2?
No, there isn't. The 0-60 and quarter mile times aren't significantly different, neither is the fuel mileage.

Auto if you don't know how to drive stick, this isn't a car to learn stick on...
As well as if you want to drag race and build a fast car.

Manual is for the fun of it and the enthusiast.

I have both. With a little tuning my L99 leaves the LS3 behind very easily. I drive my L99 in sport mode using the paddle shifter and I am in complete control of the tranny. Now I just dont have to worry with a clutch. I am much happier driving my L99. Thats my opinion.

Newbie with Auto vs. Manual ?

I have a 400 HP auto Are you racing it? using it as a Ambulance? You letting you wife drive it? The auto with a good driver will kick ass at the drags... If you can tell the difference betweem 400 and 426 HP you are a genius... sorry, but this man trans BS died in the 70's The auto trans has a 4.07 1st gear times 3:27 rear Do the math

I have a manual, but I really don't think they are difficult to drive. For instance, my wife hadn't driven a stick in over 10 years and never missed a beat. Non-synchronized manuals can be tough if you don't know what you're doing, but those are only used for very specific applications now.

My Jeep is a 6 speed manual. And to be honest, it can be a PITA to drive at times. The car I traded in for the Camao was a 2007 Saturn VUE with a manual 5 speed tranny. Besides, it was easier for the wife to drive the Camaro- she has a hurt arm and my daughter to drive too. My daughter just couldnt get the hang of driving the Jeep no matter how hard she tried.

Welcome to

Both are grate transmissions A6's can act like a manual if you get the paddles and M6's work very well, but you better know how to use one or you'll have to replace parts more often. hope this helps.

The all new Convertible !, Welcome to the Fleet !
