Stock vs Stock

(fastest -stock- Camaro SS)
12.58 @ 110 mph (LS3 M6)
12.86 @ 108 mph (L99 A6)

So in stock form, the LS3 M6 is a faster car with a skilled driver. But the key words are "skilled driver."

But with an average driver (like the majority of the Camaro owners behind the wheel), the L99 A6 will win most drag races (stock vs stock), because its much easier to launch and drive down the track.

Once you start modding (just a couple basic mods), the advantage starts to move towards the L99 A6. Most of these
L99 A6s only have a few mods.

1. Walkermuffler - 11.71 @ 114.07 mph, (LT, CAI, Tune, 17'' wheels, Skinnies, Drag Radials), (LS3, M6) # 294
2. Number_9 - 11.78 @ 117.49 mph, (LT, CAI, Exhaust, T-stat, Gears, Tune), (L99, A6) # 632
3. OrangeChevy - 11.83 @ 116 mph, (LT, Exhaust, CAI, Tune, 18'' wheels, Skinnies, DRs), (LS3, M6) # 24
4. GMRULZ - 12.22 @ 113.29 mph, (LT, CAI, Tune), (L99, A6), (DA -648 ft.) # 178
5. RedJewel2SS - 12.23 @ 113.18 mph, (LT, Exhaust, CAI, 104 octane, Tune), (L99, A6) #316
6. Wacker - 12.33 @ 111.14 mph, (LT, Exhaust, CAI, Converter, Gears, DRs, Tune), (L99, A6) # 536
7. Mercuryman96 - 12.35 @ 113.12 mph, (LT, Exhaust, CAI, DRs), (LS3, M6) # 490
8. Grandpa - 12.48 @ 111.45 mph, (LT, CAI, Tune), (L99, A6) # 575
9. nyny69 - 12.49 @ 111.14 mph, (LT, Exhaust, Ported TB, Tune), (L99 A6)
10. NHSS - 12.53 @ 111.73 mph, (LT, Exhaust, CAI, Tune), () # 331

I have not tuned mine yet but I have not had anything beat me off the line or to the speed limit. If you use the paddle shifters the car is even more fun. I can't wait till I get either enough of my car paid off or don't care about the warranty anymore to tune her. She will just be that much better.

I have added a CAI Industries intake and cut out the resonator and put in a X-Pipe.

I am 55 yrs old and being in the auto industry I have driven more manuals than most couls imagine, that being said I truly love my L99. Those who are like me and run one of my shifters with paddle shifter controls have the best of both worlds effortless shifting with complete control, can't get much better than that.

Have you guys ever driven a non-syncro'd gearbox? These tr6060's are barely a step above what you claim to be a girly trans auto.

Have your manual rebuilt without syncro's and drive it daily... till then you're just coal calling kettle black.... tr6060sissy box.

I find it quite funny how ppl constantly talk about an auto car... regardless of what tranny it is... its still fast and if you lose you just lose... Manual or auto... Point Blank Period

Not as many people can drive manuals, so they are harder to carjack...

I'd had practically zilch manual experience until I bought this car. 1700 miles later, I'm rev matching, on the clutch minimally, and shifting is smooth as butter.

I killed it seven times on the way home (lots of uphill...)

For the first week, I killed it once per day.

Now, four weeks later, driving is no problem.

I love my standard!

Not to be disrespectful or to make light of the amazing acomplishment some have achieved by mastering the art of driving a manual (by the way something everyones sister mother and grandmother does now a days). Untill you have driven an early day muscle car with a "real clutch", big block and stone crusher trans. YOU do not know what it's like to drive a real manual car. And by the way for those who think if you drive a manual you have a bigger penis well let's say I could easily prove most of you wrong.

Whatever the performance advantages and disadvantages are between the cars is irrelevant. Manual is much more fun to drive. It gives you a better connection with the car. It makes you feel like you are driving an actual sports car.

Get the manual, you will not be disappointed. These cars are all about having fun, and an automatic is not fun.

I 100% agree these cars are about having fun but I beg to differ in that an auto is not fun, I have driven "many" cars to compare with and my auto is fun. Believe me using tap shift on the shifter so you can shift under any circumstances gives you a level of "control" above that even of a manual. I guess most wouldn't know 'cause you haven't experienced it but those who have know what I mean.

The bottom-line is they are both quick.

Whichever one you choose, you will like.
