Static Electricity

Has anyone notice static electricity generated by the center console? Every time I move my arm across it, I can feel (and see) the hair on my arm moving. It only happens on the drivers side of the console, along the ridge between the shifter & the storage compartment. FWIW, I had my wife drive it, and she noticed it, too. This is the kind of weird stuff that always happened in my Vettes over the years. I wouldn't have expected it in the Camaro.

I am remarkably in love with the fact that my RS does not shock me. It's one of those little things I love about my Camaro. My Cobalt always shocked me. My Mazda pickup is already shocking me and today's the first day I've drove it.

Chick magnet - I wish. Being a product of the '60's, maybe all those good times I can't remember was an abduction or 2. But all joking aside, this is really happening.

Gee... Static Electricity? What's that about?

Oh Yea! I forgot! I live here in the Pacific Northwest. Static electricity doesn't form in the rain and fog!

I get shocked but good every time I touch the doors. I can't see it generating but I've taken to closing the door with my fist, shocks less that way.

I understand about getting shocked getting out of cars. I was in northern Arizona on a job assignment where single digit humidity was common. After a few major jolts, I quickly learned to step out and ground to the bottom of the door frame with the back of my leg. Then, close the door and go about my business. What I'm talking about isn't that severe, but it makes me wonder if there may be a loose wire (?) in the console.
