Well, I have owned both, manual first then changed to an auto.
My notes: 1.Auto has lower 1st and 2nd. It's awesome. 2.Manual has clutch issues. Some do, some don't, but mine did. Traded it in and it's still not fixed 3.Manual is not new stick driver friendly. Noone, I mean no one was able to drive it 1st try. 4.Auto is just plain easy. Can pull out in traffic smoother, slide sideways just as easy(if nit easier) 5. Mileage is close. Auto does get a little better, buy not a lot. 6.Remote start. Nothing beats it. Ultimately, I don't regret getting manual first, but it did cost me a good bit of money. But I am much happier with the auto, even with the exhaust note being quieter. Good luck, you will enjoy either. You can not drive this car upset, it just won't let ya.

they r just as fast..... the stick will pull on you around high 2nd- 3rd gear because they redline at i think 6900rpm as opposed to 6000rpm on the auto and they r rated a lil faster so it will get more outta the gears as oppsoed to the auto... but the gear ratios r the same on both so i dont think thats why they r fast off the line as you noted plus the stick has launch control my auto doesnt my boy has an stick SS and his launch control has him just ahead of me at start all the time and we got at it like crazy and he barley beats me i do agree though that after a few mods ima be running my buddies stick down and passing him up no problem lol

i see it this way... as long as the person who bought a auto can drive and stick and has driven sticks before... then he can say why he picked a auto... honestly if i was older i wouldn't want to be driving a manual any more ...
my dad who is 51 i think maybe 52.. says he has driven manuals his whole life, but when he got older he just doesn't want to drive them any more. if he bought a manual it would have to been a weeken car or something i have been driving for 3 years. driving stick for 2 years.. its still new for me.. thats why i love it so much |

I find it equally disgusting or a hit below the belt as you've inferred by bringing it up, disabled veterans are less skilled or less capable of being skilled at anything that you, I or anyone else might be. I'd speculate, that you hadn't considered anyone that may be physically handicapped while forming a opinion of yourself as the worlds best driver because you shift a manual transmission. In conclusion I'd be willing to bet, that on any given day a one armed man or woman, veteran or otherwise, driving a manually or automatic automobile be as skilled a driver on a road course as you are................. |

I DONT THINK A AUTO WILL OUT RUN A STICK SHIFT CAR IN THE CAMARO SS IT IS ALSO WHO IS DRIVING THE CAR? I HAVE HEARD OF TIMES IN THE 1/4 AROUND 13.60s TO 14.30s ON THE AUTO AND TIMES ON THE 6-SPD MAN, 12.90s TO 13.50s? ANY WAY YOU LOOK AT IT AUTO OR MAN, YOU ARE STILL GETTING A FAST STOCK CAR THAT TURNS HEADS EVERY WHERE YOU GO!

I think a lot depends on preference. I love manuals, but if I'm driving a lot in heavy traffic they suck. It is nice to have that control over the vehicle. Our show car is automatic and it's pretty nasty

There are damn near the same motor, everyone is just jumping in this thread for a soap box. Everything I stated was a fact. 1. Look up gear ratios. first in an auto is almost 4.1 IIRC. 2.Yes that is true. But it is enough of a problem, and i guarantee that it would have only gotten worse in my case. As far as i know, the auto has had significantly less, if any, problems then the manuals, both v6 and v8. 3.Dealer techs, family who have driven 100k on there current clutch, every mechanic I've been to, I mean No One--but this was just my LS3 4. so now my Camaro is a Camry huh? I guess 10k in an LS3 doesn't make me a man...you'll understand when you get a woman worth making happy... 5. AFM is fine. Can't even hear it with radio above 9, and you can't beat the addititonal mileage for same car. 6. Nope. Nice warm leather seats on a 30 degree day---I'll take it. Honestly, when are some of you guys gonna grow up. the 10/11 auto SS have more pull off line and through the early gears then the sticks, and the LS3 only wins due to a little more HP and a better top-end cam. Same cam L99 would at least, at least be an equal. Believe it or not, my penis didn't shrink when i switch to an auto-at least not according to your mom
