im kinda lucky even though i do have the "forward most point" law.. im lucky because most cops in my area would rather spend their time admiring the car rather than pulling them over for the plate.. i can't tell you how many vettes and porsches i have seen around here running with no plates.. i may just ask them their secret one day if they do get pulled over......

I'm so glad Michigan only requires one plate and I do sympathize with those of you in states requiring two.

Yeah same, two of my neighbors' cars dont have front plates - a vette and a stang - so I will be asking the dealer to leave it off mine. I guess I'll put it on if I get a warning.

I'll wait until the tickets become an issue. Frames that attach to the lower grill would be nice.

At a fairly recent car show, I did ask the guys that were showing off their Corvettes. They told me the cops never bother them about it. But, they also said that they're not out racing from street light to street light, or playing pole position weaving in and out of traffic either. Which may exclude several Camaro drivers?! Oh well, life is short and you got to have fun don't you!?

Just a thought...

Has anyone though about fiberglassing into the front bumper a place to mount the license plate? You know, like you see on rear bumpers of trucks with those custom roll pans? I know it'll destroy the body lines, but it might be an interesting way to customize the car and still keep it legal....

I think I'd still rather just throw the plate on the dash board, though...

In my 20+ years of driving in Texas, I have never had a front plate. In all that time, I've only been pulled over once for it, and it was a $10 fine. Like others have said, I wouldn't even bother, even in states that require them. Cops have a lot more important thing to do than find plate offenders!

Of course, just for the people in states who require a front plate...Like VA!
when I use to have a 1988 montecarlo SS I requested the dealer not to install the front plate and kept it in the trunk for years until I got two tickets, but both got waived in court, one by luck and the other I presented a picture with the plate on. unforunately that was the early 90's and there where no toll booths that require front plate as far as I know.

I live on the Virginia/West Virginia line and Va requires a front tag but not WV. Since there are so many cars on the road around here with no front tag no one even thinks about it. I have had several First Gen Camaros over the years and I have never ran a front tag. I have a Z-71 Avalanche now with no front tag as I just could not bring myself to put it on and my son has a Colbalt SS/SC also with no front tag. My brother in law is a state Trooper in VA and he only gives warnings for front tags. No way I will put it on unless I had too.

I went to the dealer the other day and told them that I idnt want a front plate and they said that they have to put it on to inspect it(wich is a lie, I used to inspect cars). One of the Managers said not to worry about it cause he said "it will prolly be like the corvettes and just stick on so there arent any holes in the bumper." WTF??? I am gonna be pissed if I have to buy a new bumper!!!

I'm going to figure out how to attach the front plate on the lower facia instead of on the bumper. If I ever find the time and inclination, I thought about trying to figure out how to make a motorized plate retractor that slides the plate in and out through the lower grille. There should be enough room between the radiator and the grille to hide the plate when the car isn't moving.

Here's where mine is going for now...as opposed to on the bumper.

Hello, this is my first post and I just wanted to throw this out as an option. Although my front plate is just in my windshield.
