Warantee

For those of you that have already powder coated your rims those that want to, perhaps those that just know, do you know the process voids the wheel and tire protection package that was available when buying your car?

More than likely, yes. Read the fine print on your wheel and tire protection paperwork. That is not something that is offered by GM so what is covered will vary by dealer, depending on which 3rd party company's warranty service they are selling.

Are you asking IF it voids your warranty or are you telling us that it DOES void it?

When my dealer was trying to sell me this coverage, he said any aftermarket wheels I put on the car would be covered. If that's true, I'd think that the same would apply to your modded wheels.

But I'd verify that before powdercoating...

I don't know for sure but I doubt it would. It's no different than painting them. You're not compromising the integrity of the wheels or tires in any way. Just to make sure, i'd call the dealership and ask them. It's been shown that some dealerships are better than others.

Why would a dealer cover aftermarket rims unless they were from gm of course. I agree that as long as you aren't messing with the integrity that it would be safe. I would see it as a cosmetic change not mechanical.
