started my camaro up this morning and heard a ticking noise coming from the engine. popped the hood and got close to hear where it was coming from. seems to be coming from drivers side near the headers. it ticks about 2-3 ticks per sec. was louder when i started it, faded a little but remained for the next 2 minutes i let it run.
anyone any ideas????? |

Same thing here...Got mine in April...I think there is a thread
on this on the forum...Same here on start up you really here it and after 10 - 15 seconds it goes away...Someone will chime in with answers for you bud...Don't think we should worry about it...

Could indicate a hydralic lifter pumping up slowly. Is you oil correct and clean?

most likely injectors. When they are cold they are sometimes more noticable, but they always make a little noise, usually not loud enough to get youor attention.

went out to double check oil level and how clean - level was good and it was surprisingly clean (love rp oil). started it up again - same ticking noise but a little softer - gave the engine a good hard rev - noise went away after that - what's up??
if it is injectors, do i need to see the dealer about this - hell the car is only 15 months old and its not that cold here - about 40 degrees and my car is garaged. problem??? |

Nope, normal injector noise, usually becomes less noticable with warmth. I used ZMAX fuel treatment which took almost all noise away, acts as a lubricant. But no matter what you do, injectors will always make a little clicking/tapping noise.

Is yo garage heated (?), if not, it might just be the oil, it's thick when cold, as the motor worms up & goes away, it might not be a bad thing, but if its worm or hot and still does it, you might have it checked.
Hope that helps. The all new Convertible !, Welcome to the Fleet !

There is a tsb out on the afm lifters making noise. You can do a search and find it and also check with your dealer.

Everyone at the dealers is deaf. They have a very hard time "duplicating issues" that involve listening to anything. And if they DO hear something, then it's "normal".

Check the spark plug wires.
Its probably not the issue cause I believe it would turn on your T/C light, but it couldn't hurt. I know when I put on my headers I began hearing a ticking sound, which turned out to be a loose spark plug wire. |

Anybody have an update on this? I just bought a V6 Camaro a week and didn't notice when I bought it. It does it all the time, no matter if its cold or warm, but only does it at idle. Im gonna see about taking it in, it only has 17000 on it. Thanks
