With headers, mid-pipe, catback and drag radials, still with stock airbox it went 12.0 @ 116.

We then added a 4.10 gear and aluminum driveshaft and it went 11.61 @ 118 mph.

Just for comparison, our 5.0 is 3,680 with me in it. The last Camaro I had on the same scale was 4,160 with me in it.-Rick
You need look no further as to why the Mustang has an edge. It's all about the weight. 480lb difference. Wow!

If you have a dog from the factory, then theres a problem Thats why I dont think the stang is any faster, I am sure they have some stock dogs coming out of the factory, and I am sure they have some stock killers like we do as well.
20rwhp on the same dyno? Doubtful. Different power results are due to varying dyno calibration and environmental factors. With the tolerances cars are built to today and the fact that all the tunes are identical, I highly doubt any LS3 with similar mileage to another is putting down 20rwhp more in the same conditions. The reason you see 12.6's is because those people can drive better and have better track conditions. There's no such thing as a factory freak anymore.

I just seen somthing not long ago, a shop dynoed to camaros at the same time. Both cars were M6 bone stock, one was over 15hp at the wheels over the other. When both cars got the same mods, the one on top stayed on top even after the mods.

It should only be 250-300 all other things equal such as tires and rims, amount of gas in the tank, same drive-train etc etc.

Just look at the listed curb weights of both cars.

All things are not equal in this case. The difference should be 250 to 300 at the absolute most.

The mustang probably had a smaller aftermarket rim and tire combo (like always). Maybe a spare and jack removed, and probably less gas compared to the camaro. Did both cars have aftermarket exhaust? both cars have aluminum driveshafts? Those numbers are off by about 200lbs.

Ok, but remember the guy said they put in an aluminum driveshaft on that particular 5.0. That does shave some weight, correct?

could be the way the cars were strapped down, tire pressure, tire profile or pinion angles and such as well + slight engine variance......chances are likelier that its the first 3 listed.

well, to me ULTRA was just pretty much saying that the typical Mustang aint gonna weigh 450lbs less than the camaro. Thats what i agree with. Not saying that THAT particular Mustang didnt achieve that kind of weight variance (or that THAT particular Camaro wasnt that fat), just that the mustang is generally about 250lbs lighter than the cami.

The stock driveshaft was 40 lbs. the aluminum is 20.

Wow...that must free up a bit of horsepower by removing 20lbs of rotating mass. Do you have any figures on this? I would guess about 8-10hp? Carbon fiber driveshafts are even lighter yet but the price is usually ridiculous.

Sorry to go off topic but...
Any aluminum driveshafts available for the camaro? What are the weight numbers on those? I may be interested...

What part of michigan you guys from? I am about an hour and a half to the west of detroit.

I would love to get together sometime and get some footage.

I am itching too see how I stack up against an equally modded 5.0.

BTW...dont just do a dig run. Try him from 40-130 as well (take away some driver error and traction problems etc). On a closed course obviously Make sure you are damn near empty on gas as well...dont give any advantages away that you can control.
