Yes, the 5.0 had an extra passenger... And about that modified exhaust, come on man, it's only a deleted muffler

I'm not trying to argue with you man, just not anything odd about that IMO...
I didn't say it was odd...what I was doing was backing the claim that the Cobra is a high 12 second car. What I also pointed out was on paper, I should have put a good beat down on him but didn't. Races are not won on paper, on a bench or a forum...they are won on the street or the track, where anything can and will happen.

Thanks, I've seen other 5th gens pretty much like mine but on a good tire cut 11s....it's time to step up to a real tire!

Yup, when the car had headers and a cold air it was running 12.9 @ 111 without a tune. Launching at this power level was uneventful..and easy.

With the cam, it's trapping 116 but turning 13.1.....60' times mean EVERYTHING! Now the car wheelhops like mad off the line and on the 1-2 shift. Gotta love picking up 5 mph on the trap but going .2 slower!

What size are the stock pipes in the camaro? 2.5"? The mufflers would obviously be a restriction. It sounds like such a simple mod but probably gains more power than any other mod minus headers. And don't forget tc was on for the mustang

I'm pretty sure a simple tune would give you more power than a deleted muffler... I never thought about removing the mufflers as being a serious mod, maybe others can help clear this out (I don't own an SS :( ).

Going by what the guys over at SVTP say, the driver of the 5.0 says he spun too much with the TC off, and that the TC didn't intervene much. The camera guy also says that the taped run was actually the best run for the 5.0.

Some even say that from a roll, the 5.0 will probably lose by even more, and remember those guys are some serious die-hard ford fans.

From what we've seen there's very little HP to be gained from doing a muffler delete. The LS3 mufflers are straight though in design. You'd be very lucky if you gained 3-5 hp.

The factory cats seem to be a major restriction in the stock exhaust. We've had several members report around 20 rwhp by just removing the factory cats (while still retaining the factory manifolds).

That would make a difference (at least a couple car lengths).

Actually unless you get someone to tune it out the speed limiter kicks in around 118 or so. Our LS doesn't come with Z-rated tires.

Regular 5.0, no. This one, yes.
The only difference between the two is the spoiler and rear diffuser and you a get a bigger spoiler and the GT500 diffuser on the GT California Special so actually there's nothing that's especially Shelby in the pic. Its the big meats that really make's it look that way. So if the rear end is keeping someone from buying then just buy new rim's and tire's and you should be happy with the looks, maybe a larger spoiler.

Geeze it didn't think rims and spoilers were unattainable mods and don't Camaro owner's do the same sort of mods everyday here to improve from the factory look?

Yes a stock GT need's a little help to look bad ass but its only wheel's and spoiler's.
