Ground Effects
for people that have ground effects added to their camaro or know abt them i have a question for you guys.
Does the ground effects package give the car alot of weight or slow it down? and one more question, since the ground effects gives the car a bit more aerodynamics, does it really help out with the handling itself? |

Weight isn't a factor with the ground effects.. slowing it down I am doubtful on that unless there is some kinda of air resistance of the chin spoiler I am unaware of.
If you get a real race chin spoiler then yes it'll help with air flow under the car.. but I can't claim to be an expert on the topic, maybe someone with more knowledge can post on that.

I've read and I'm 99% sure it doesn't act as a form of better aerodynamics. Just for looks.

Well I have an LT not an SS so I can't speak for the V8, however I've heard the V6 handles better since it's lighter. It depends what you're comparing it to, on average yeah it handles great. But compared to other sports cars it's OK. I just ordered sway bars and endlinks today (thanks to black friday low prices).

Oh well you can't compare the Camaro to a GT-R. The GT-R definitely handles a lot better, no question there.

have sinisters gfx kit, with havoc's spoiler. ran a 12.9 without the kit at about 80 degrees, then later ran a 12.8 with the kit (that being the only change) in 60 degree weather.
so i would say no, it doesnt influence straight shot speed. |

I do not believe it would make a difference with factory gfx. Just looks.
Does anyone happen to have a LS with gfx?

I say it doesn't matter about the ground effects if they make you handle better or make the car faster. They look good and that's what counts.
Besides, if you want a faster car, just add racing stripes. They guarranteed to give you an extra 50 HP, just ask any Mustang owner. |

GFX is for looks.
If you want to set up a Camaro to handle really well you need to look at the suspension. There are a lot of excellent companies that sell a complete line of suspension parts for the 2010 camaro. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=93 Here's a link to the suspension forum here at Camaro5. Lots of good information on lower springs, coilovers, etc. This is where you'll find the answers to making your Camaro handle like a race car. |

To me, the Camaro is a lump of clay begging to be formed into a sweet cool looking ride. It already has "most" of the hotrod stuff needed. Just needs its looks to be sported up a bit - all cosmetic, nothing else.
