I have something to add about the LLT.
I have driven an 08 CTS w/ the LLT for over three years. It had timing chain issues and oil consumption issues. If you have an LLT, check your oil frequently - especially if you drive it hard. I found that the oil level would fall to the bottom of the stick well before the oil change interval. And again, it will vary based on your driving habits. But if you don't check your oil, you will risk starving the engine for oil. In your case, oil starvation may not be the case as the damage was only seen on one bearing. But it is something to keep in mind with the LLT in general. I'd be curious to hear if Camaro V6 owners have experienced high oil consumption. If not, then GM must have already addressed the HFV6 oil consumption problem before dropping the LLT in the Camaro. |

Both issues should have been resolved although time will tell. Most of us have under 10k on our engines so far.

My oil consumption is HIGH! I was shocked to see such a rapid drop in my oil level. I didn't check it for awhile because I wasn't expecting it to drop like that. I was wondering if there were others with the same high rate of oil consumption.

Some are having issues sucking it thru the pcv since it is right behind the tb. GM has a generic test You bring it in they top it off record the mileage then you bring it back at a certain mileage and they check it again. From there depending on the useage of oil they tell you if it is normal or not. Me personally i tend to check it at every fill up. But thats what you get for working on cars for 18 years.

I'm running Castrol Syntec which is a full synthetic and I have racked up 20,000 km so far. I checked the clean side and found no oil in my Injen tube, not sure how much is getting into the intake manifold from the dirty side. I will install a catch can soon.

why is that gm dealer not even using an approved gm scan tool,, why would they use an aftermarket scan tool when being a dealer they are required to have a gm MDI and a laptop running GM GDS software....
