Can you get a picture of it? Not that I really care about getting one, just wondering what this one looks like.

That is not a CAI...it is a dress up kit for the stock intake. They had it in Orlando too...it just a chrome or polished tubing and box...Run, and run fast. Almost 400 bucks for a dress up is absolutely insane...even the guy at the perf department at my dealership said don't bother. That is pretty sad..

What is the "tune" in your feedback? I agree with the bundle system (CAI + exhaust upgrade) all together but this is my first reading of having to add a tune (tuneup?) with a CAI and exhaust upgrade. Any feedback on the "tune" woould be helpful.
Thanks

A CAI is healthy for the car with or without a tune. However, what I do STRONGLY agree with is purchasing a bundle if you can and have the money. Alot of C5 venders will give you really good discounts with a bundle and the tune brings it all together. The tune is what really seems to help all the products come alive...

Search DYNO TUNE or there are hand held products, I however prefer going to a professional tuner (dyno tune).

http://www.thedynoshop.com/pages/whatisDT.htm

hand held products are "do it yourself", but I have a trusted group that works with vettes and camaros exclusively so I have no knowledge and experience with the hand held products. Some Camaro5 members love them and swear by them....

You absolutely do not need a tune with a CAI and exhaust. However, many of us eventually jump to headers and most are recommended.

Simply put, a professional tuner will optimize the potential of your camaro...with performance, power, and even mpg. I know a couple buddies of mine that have got the tune done with no modifications because that is all they could afford at the time to improve the efficiency of their vehicles. From what I have researched (in Orlando alone) a dyno tune can run from 290-400 bucks.

Yea, I just don't know if I can believe the product is comparable to many of the great after market choices we have....especially at 460 damn dollars.

Thanks brantley847

Never had a tune like this so my next obvious questions, wrt a dyno tune:
o What parameters are the shop tweaking or looking for to tweak?
o Is this written into ECM non-volatile memory?
o Would the 5-30 fuse pull reset procedure (to set high or low octane tables) wipe out these dyno tune settings?

That is a question you would have to ask the shop. I would assume each one is unique, but provide you the options and the benefits when you contact them.

I would imagine the fuse pull would reset the procedure, but again...I could be wrong.

I will say, many dealerships have become very antzy about warranty work once you have had the tune..some have tried to refuse, but must provide you proof that the tune caused the failure whatever it may be.

I dont know what this is but its NOT GMPP CAI intake.

I emailed GMPP about it and they sent me an email that they HAD NOT released it yet. But they have assigned a part number which makes me think they should be releasing it soon.

Just because it is in dealerships on display does not mean it is for sale or NOT a CAI. It could very well be the upcoming CAI, but you are correct in that it is not released as of yet....

With that said, GM originally released what they "called" a CAI, but it was nothing more than a dress up kid for the engine bay with no performance gains....that went away quickly.

I saw that too. Think it was a chrome top or something. What a joke.

The SSX track car was at SEMA. Check out 1:25 in this video, they show a CAI on the car. Not sure if it is GMPP or not. But this car is supposed to be a showcase for GMPP parts.
