Fbodfather did say, promise, a number of times this camaro is going to be a "world class car." Quotations are mine. I think we can expect little details like this to be a non issue. Scott has proven to be one of a kind in this business. He has converted me, and earned my business. That isn't easy. I don't plan to find anything wrong with this car, for the price point it is selling at. Three more years and I believe all you'll find in my garage are GM's, three camaro's and a suburban! Close to buying the burb this weekend. Took it home on a test drive and loved it. By the way, when was the last time your dealer let you take a vehicle home, overnight, for a test drive. It's been over 10 years for me because that's the last time I owned a domestic car/truck. I don't think the foreign guys would let you do that!

It seems to me that they changed it for the worse. Looks like it was done "the right way" on older cars (IVERS) but newer cars (CTF, etc) have it just going through the trunk opening. I sure as hell hope this wasn't to cut cost. This better have been some unforseen engineering/longevity issue that couldn't be fixed "the right way" in time. I'm sure this will be on the todo list for 2011.

And GM cars are just flyin off the lots..... ![]() I didn't say Japan is outselling GM because right now everything is about even with the recession..... what I am saying (and if you go back and re-read my post you'll see) is that if you walk up to your average Joe car buyer in America and ask him/her to say what they think between American and Japanese cars, the general majority right now think of cheap, flimsy, and corner cutting when they think American. When the economy was going strong, Toyota couldn't keep their cars in stock and GM was loosing money left and right. I know there are lots of different trains of thought, but one thing that is controllable by GM themselves, the one thing that CANNOT be diminnished in magazines and media, is flawless assembly and clean fit of every piece of the car. I'm tellin ya, that harness looks bad and leaves a bad first impression. After looking at the IVERS and the saleables, GM had it right before and went backwards. I really hope they go back to the harnesses in the IVERs before full production. |

Well its not like you'll use the trunk lid anyway. Far too small to fit anything through, and shutting it means putting finger prints on the paint. Just load through the folding rear seats and all is well. Or don't put anything in the trunk at all. That just slows the car down.

Okay.
All the complaining actually made me get up and look at the trunk of my car. Guess what? It's got the SAME THING. So...now I can say from experience two things: #1; I never noticed the darn thing before now, and I've owned the car for almost year and a half. Tell ya something? ![]() #2; The protective casing they wrapped the wires in is some TOUGH stuff. Take a look at ANY trunk, I guarantee that you'll find a harness that feeds into the trunk like that on 75% of them. In fact, I googled a couple of Toyotas and Hondas....same thing. Now, granted, they had the harness bound to the supports of the trunk. But...I'm gonna call "bs" on the it-leaves-a-negative-impression thing. Obviously, for some reason, the Camaro does not have internal supports. Neither does the Cobalt I own, and that car is one of GM's top-5 sellers....I'd say it's tried and true approach to harness the trunk wires. ![]() I have faith they'll choose a reliable solution to this issue. But what the pictures show above...is NOT a bad way to do it. I use my cargo space a LOT, we go on frequent trips to Grandma's, and we're always lugging things back and forth. I've NEVER gotten anything snagged, because (just like the Camaro), they attached it to be tight against the car when the trunk opens. You guys have nothing to worry about. |
