Way to man up, i really respect that. And im sorry to hear that, hope all works out for you in the future.
100 biannually? If i did that, im pretty sure my insurance would jump from 500 a month( clean record, Canada) to probably 700 a month
mean, emty roads, perfect and safe conditons, the tempt, but its not worth it and your right and thanks for reminding others, atleast me that its not worth it

It's just a speeding ticket!

The world is not ending; pay the fine and do the time; all is good.

When I was stationed in VA, I could never understand why the PEOPLE of VA don't fight to have some of the stupid laws removed from the books, such as the radar detector law. Do you all vote on keeping this law?

I know in GA we have some stupid laws too, like our "no alcohol sales on Sunday" law. But every election we vote on modifications to this law and little by little we have been changing it. Now where food is served, alcohol can be served if the people of the county vote for it. (Not that I drink anymore but, stupid is stupid, even if it is a law.)

Thank God we don't have a points system in RI. That's probably the only thing good about RI. LOL I will say that although I'm not too familiar with the points system 6 points seems very high. Which to me means either you were going triple digit speeds, very close to them, or more than double the posted limit (80 in a 40), but with the fine being as low as that I don't think thats what happened. Take it as a lesson. The more tickets you get the less cash you'll have for mods. Keep it at the track and you'll never have to worry. Hang in there.

Thats true, thats exactly how I tricked the cop last time. I speed up as soon as I got on the entrance ramp (saw him coming for me) on the freeway and lucky for me the lanes merge with other traffic and then it merges again with more traffic so by the time the cop caught up to me he wasn't sure if it was me or another car like mine.

I almost got another ticket today as i was getting in the HOV lane, stupid motorcycle cop was hiding right near the entrance (didn't see him at first) with his radar gun facing the back of each car entering the HOV, I was going 83 mph and I got lucky cuz by the time he clocked me in Im sure I was right at speed limit. Im so glad i got saved today, as i still have to finish all the stuff for my first ticket.

First off, having to pull grades up so you can get a freaking Camaro...oh, you worked hard. Spoiled brat...off my soap box, but when your young like this the police will feel obligated to teach you a lesson instead of giving you a warning. Yeah, maybe they are profiling you as too young and reckless to own a car like this, you are obviously, but none the less you need to learn to respect the laws. Yeah, we all speed from time to time. Yeah, we all enjoy the power, thats half the reason we bought it. If you never do it in resedential areas, never in areas with lots of lights like busy intersections, but instead on backroads or highways...you probably would have a better chance of getting a warning or reduced. Its not going 150mph...its going from 0-60 which you can do in a lot of areas and get your rocks off. Dont prove the stereotype right...Also dont insult the rest of us on here. We worked hard, like spending years to pay off debt, build up credit score, and saving up money just to get this car. Getting good grades in high school...thats your parents paying you off because you didnt have enough ambition to worry about your future.

A radar detector is cheaper than a ticket.

Very mature attitude towards this. I srr great potential in your ability to curbe your lead foot at such a young age. Your showing a maturity that alot of older people (my self included) that have not yet got what speeding can do. I still struggle with it.

I posted this on an other thread I hope you dont mind me posting it here. Good luck in everything.

Read This Slowly BUT READ IT !

Jack took a long look at his speedometer
Before slowing down: 73 in a 55 zone.
Fourth time in as many months.
How could a guy get caught so often?

When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour,

Jack pulled over, but only partially.
Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard.
Maybe some other car will tweak his backside with a mirror.
The cop was stepping out of his car,
The big pad in hand.

Bob...Bob from Church !!
Jack sunk farther into his trench coat.
This was worse than the coming ticket.
A cop catching a guy from his own church.
A guy who happened to be a little eager
To get home after a long day at the office.
A guy he was about to play golf with tomorrow.

Jumping out of the car,
He approached a man he saw every Sunday,
A man he'd never seen in uniform.

'Hi, Bob. Fancy meeting you like this.'

'Hello, Jack.' No smile.

'Guess you caught me red-handed
In a rush to see my wife and kids.'

'Yeah, I guess.' Bob seemed uncertain.
Good.

'I've seen some long days at the office lately.
I'm afraid I bent the rules a bit -just this once.'

Jack toed at a pebble on the pavement.
'Diane said something about roast beef and potatoes tonight.
Know what I mean?'

'I know what you mean.
I also know that you have a reputation in our precinct .'
Ouch.
This was not going in the right direction.
Time to change tactics.

'What'd you clock me at?'

'Seventy. Would you sit back in your car please?'

'Now wait a minute here, Bob.
I checked as soon as I saw you.
I was barely nudging 65.'
The lie seemed to come easier with every ticket.

'Please, Jack, in the car'

Flustered, Jack hunched himself through the still-open door.
Slamming it shut, he stared at the dashboard.
He was in no rush to open the window.

The minutes ticked by.
Bob scribbled away on the pad.

Why hadn't he asked for a driver's license?

Whatever the reason,
It would be a month of Sundays
Before Jack ever sat near this cop again.

A tap on the door jerked his head to the left..
There was Bob, a folded paper in hand
Jack rolled down the window a mere two inches,
Just enough room for Bob to pass him the slip..

'Thanks.' Jack could not quite keep
The sneer out of his voice.

Bob returned to his police car without a word.

Jack watched his retreat in the mirror.
Jack unfolded the sheet of paper.
How much was this one going to cost?

Wait a minute.
What was this ... Some kind of joke !!

Certainly not a ticket. Jack began to read:

'Dear Jack, Once upon a time I had a daughter.
She was six when killed by a car.
You guessed it - a speeding driver.
A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free.
Free to hug his daughters, all three of them.
I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until Heaven
Before I can ever hug her again.

A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man.
A thousand times I thought I had.
Maybe I did, but I need to do it again.
Even now.
Pray for me.
And be careful, Jack,
My son is all I have left.'

'Bob'

Jack turned around in time to see Bob's car
Pull away and head down the road.
Jack watched until it disappeared.
A full 15 minutes later, he too,
pulled away and drove slowly home,
praying for forgiveness and
hugging a surprised wife and kids when he arrived.

Life is precious.
Handle with care.
This is an important message;
please pass it along to your friends.
Drive safely and carefully.
Remember, cars are not the only things
recalled by their maker.

After breaking the news to my parents who had trusted me with this vehicle for 7 months now, their view on me has completely changed and my opportunity of operating this vehicle has obviously been revoked.
Kudo's on stepping up and sharing your experience. You'll have an opportunity now, too earn the respect and simply not be trusted with it as a unqualified given. Hopefully in time your parents will give you the opportunity..............the benefits of learning something from your mistakes..........priceless, as we've all experienced. Good Luck!

Short shorts are a must, or a short skirt The dragstrip is the most fun I've had racing, and ever since I started hitting the strip I've noticed my lead foot is a lot less heavy driving around town

Very well put.. My first car was a $100 POS I bought myself when I turned 18 and graduated high school. I was always too focused in keeping a 4.2 gpa while training year round for wrestling (4 year Varsity Captain, 4 years being ranked within the top 6 in my state) Family couldn't afford to buy me a car, but I never went hungry and always had a warm bed to sleep in. I have worked my tail off since I graduated high school and 4 and a half years later I cashed in some of that hard work for the coolest car I could get my hands!! You are very fortunate to have this car, don't mess that up!
