160 Deg. Thermostat
I just ordered a 160 Thermostat for my LS3 from WestCoastCamaro, is there a noticeable difference running a cooler thermostat? i also ordered a skip shift eliminator.

![]() A lot of good tuners use it. I have skip shift eliminator. Was kind of pointless though because I'm getting long tube headers, and with a tune they eliminate it anyway. |

I hear ya, its hard to make all the right decisions when you only do so many mods at once. i'm telling myself a cat back, CAI, and a set of black rims is my limit while i still have warranty, but it's a disease lol...never fast enough, never loud enough , etc . Thanks for the info. oh yeah cant forget... an MTI sixshooter is in order

You are for sure at this time of the year in Canada going to have to readjust your fan settings. Your coolant temps will be too cold if you don't. If you do not readjust your fan settings, you should wait until summer to install the 160* stat. I even had to readjust mine in southern florida for the winter air temps.

Thanks 2SS CAMARO, i will wait til the summer to install the 160 stat, the SS is in storage as we speak because they salt the hell out of the roads when the temps start dropping below freezing. Probably wont get to drive it until April/May..

You don't have to adjust the fans. I've been driving my car in this cold weather and it's fine.

What did you do put cardboard in front of the radiator to block the airflow? Even down here in southern florida at this time of the year I don't get any higher than 174* in cruise (with no fans) and that's with ambient's in the sixtys.

Mine runs 176-178 all the time on the highway/backroads ect. Oil is at 210.
There are 2 different t-stats that can fit in this car.Make sure you have the right one. |

Run one on my 98 z28 and tuned for it. fans on at 190 and 200, runs 178 on freeway in Kali in winter but fan 1 on all the time in summer but told no worries they run forever. summer cycles 190-200, 190-205 optimum temp on alum ls engines for max power per tuners and the GM engineers.

If I lived that far North where it really doesn't get really hot many days of the year and was not racing the car, I wouldn't bother at all.
