1998 Ford F150 137K miles. Just got it this year. I pray that it will survive at least a couple of winters.

Not too much winter in Annapolis? My buddy lives there and just a year or so ago they got pounded hard with a winter storm. Not sure how long you've been there, but you will have some extremly bad winter weather there.

I have been here 17 years now...yes every now and again we get slammed with a nor'easter.

As you are describing, last year we had them back to back with a record year total of 80 inches falling over the course of 3 weeks. The snow melts off quickly here though. I have had winters here that I did not have any significant snowfall. I will not drive the Camaro if they have put down salt, but some winters they never do. Last year we got slammed, just not enough to 'park' the car.

But I am originally from MI and there most winters you do not see temperatures above 32F from late December through March and when it snows like above - it is there for the winter.

Here I have my boat in the water by March and I do not pull it until December.

FWIW,
SSN8R

By the way I was able to get 'out and around' in my Z71 every night of the storm last winter, I love driving when the locals give up.

Um, why do you need a winter beater for snow and salt use in an area that has not had a recorded measured snowfall since 1962?

Sweet truck though.

2000 Jeep Cherokee, bought it 3 yrs ago from some kid whose parents only let him drive it to college daily, looks brand new( if they still made them). It's a beast in the snow, last year i left De. the day they got 36" drove straight across PA and Ohio in 4 high, it kept on going when lots of vehicles were off the road in the ditch. If you can find a decent one for cheap buy it.

Most of you folk have a huge misconception between a "winter beater" and "a secondary car". lol.

a winter beater is something you keep just liability on

a winter beater is something you can dent/scratch and not care about

if all the body panels are the same color, your vehicle is not a winter vehicle

the car needs at least one "characteristic" for it to be considered a beater.... such as "you have to kick the bumper for it to start", "the car has to warm up for it for the transmission to work" "you have to half the headlights on for the radio to work" etc etc etc

anyways... my beater is a 95 jeep cherokee

A winter beater? It's 70 at the beach today

My Camaro loves SoCal winters. No hibernation required.
