FYI, the 12.4 was with an auto, MT and CD tested 6 speeds. insideline tested an automatic, and they generally suck at driving, and were able to get 12.6@112.5, so it is DEFINATLY capable of a 12.4 with the automatic transmission. And FYI, I CAN'T STAND IT, when someone finds the worst time they can to prove a car is slower than it is supposed to be because THEY want it to be..... |

Exactly. If history repeats the car should get down to 12.2-12.3 hero times when stock (looking at mag time to owner times from the stang and camaro). Though it may take a bit to see this happen given the number of people driving them and tracking them will be far less than it is with the camaro or mustang. Whenever a car comes out I usually take the average of most mag runs and then remove just about a half second. This will get you VERY close to what the cars are capable of running with great drivers and great conditions etc. For Example... Camaro ran a 12.9-13.1 in most all mag tests. 12.5 hero time. Mustang ran in the same ballpark with very quick runs of 12.7-12.8 in motor trend. Current hero time of 12.4 Challenger 392. 12.6, 12.9, 13.0 so far. It should be capable of AT LEAST a 12.3 IMO |

though I seen it was -1000-1400 DA for the 12.3 mustang run. it was +1200 DA for the camaros 12.5 run. Correcting is kind of lame but the camaro corrected to a 12.43 being at 0 DA. at -1000 it would have been just as fast as the stangs 12.3x all things staying the same. |

well the debate will not end. at least teh 392 will be on the streets for the spring. we'll see what -2000ft DA's do. then after a time we'll have a database.

man the 12,5 camaro run WAS not a 1200ft run. the air was negative DA and the track is at 600ft. bowling green in may. that correction is false man. i went to weather undeground for the exact conditions at that time. if dodge wants to make a splash use this motor. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/13/p...8-crate-motor/

True enough. Mid 13's just get a sneer these days. It wasn't that long ago that people thought a Civic with aftermarket exhaust was a quick car. What a spoiled place cheap gas North America is.

I just don't get why everyone is so absorbed by the power of any car. Someone who regularly runs 1/4 miles is gonna mod their engine so they will win. I understand everyone here defending the team, but honestly, this continued worry about whether the 392 can beat an SS is silly. My RT will match a stock SS because it's slightly modded, maybe even beat it. When I put in the S/C it will smoke most cars. So what? Mod your car if you're gonna race.
