Uh..not quite. There's a difference between winning best overall car and straight line speed. The Camaro V8 is faster.

The V8 model Mustang may certainly be lighter and handle better, however the on track shoot out between it and the Camaro consistantly showed the Camaro making up ground or pulling ahead in straightaway's. Also, the V6 Mustang has 305 hp not 312 like the Camaro. Minimal difference, I admit, however it is wrong to say they are the same.

Someone bought into the 5.0 hype. I have yet to see the production cars mirror the times of the early RINGERS released by ford. The 5.0 is not some end all be all engine..
Plus mustangs look like sh....

The LS3 Manual requires a very skilled driver to run fast times.
What did he run at the track (60', 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, trap speed)? That's the only way to know if he had a good run. Lots of guys run crappy times (especially in LS3 M6s), because they can't drive all that well. With average to below average drivers behind the wheel, an automatic has a nice advantage. |

all the tests i've seen show the mustang is very fast down low...particularly with 3.73 gears...BUT.. they also say the SS's huge LS3 picks up steam. So it should be a dead heat at the end of a quarter.

You can see below how it runs out of 1st gear pretty quickly (2.5 second mark), while chevy carries first a bit longer. That was designed on purpose to compete with the monster LS3 off the line.
