Something to think about maybe:
Corvette ZR-1 Ring time: 7:26.4 with 638 bhp... The official curb weight of the 2009 ZR1 was released to be 3,352 lb (1,520 kg). Nissan GTR Ring Time: 7:26.70 with 530bhp (and two cyls less) Curb weight1,740 kg (3,800 lb) If a Jap can keep up with a ZR1, why wouldn't a Z28 be able to beat a Z06 (which is supposed to be a slower car than the ZR1)? |

I had heard that the 2012 zo6 will be getting a slightly detuned version of the zr1 motor because the zr1 will be dropped and the 7.0 is going away. Standard vette should be getting direct injected by then and be a solid 450 hp car. I love the idea of the z28 but we all know just throwing hp at a heavy car is not going to make it a competetor against what ii consider americas supercar. Look at the gt500. I love the car but it can hardly hang with a regular corvette out of the box because of it power to weight ratio.

And most indications are the Nissan GTR is underrated. Its really making 550 awhp (all wheel HP).

Second - if your brand new, and haven't been lurking, make sure you check out the Stickies with the spyshots and videos There's lots of drool material there ![]() Quote:
), then I think there's a good case for Z28 to at least be VERY close to Z06. They would have to have had tuned the sh*t out of the chassis and bumped the power a lot though Quote:

BUT, that CTS-V has all the iminities that you find on the Berbarian and luxury cars, so some of that technology accounts for some of that price, too, no? Also - CTS-V runs on a more exclusive chassis - yes? But I digress, because I'm totally in the same page in terms of Z and on your price ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:
That AWD is helping a lot, too. I believe I remember one of the chief engineers on 'Vette saying there was a little more to be had, too. Also - wasn't that test on the GTR a little suspect, too, due to the way they timed it or something; it was unofficial or something like that? Maybe that was another test I'm thinking of...![]() :(Quote:

I need to correct my statement. The Nissan GTR made 495 awhp. That would equate to around 570 hp at the crank (at 15% loss). But that's wayyy higher than Nissan's hp claims. |

Anyways, I do believe and hope the Z28 outperforms a Z06 on a roadcourse (600BHP, wide tires, CTS-V brakes, coilovers, and 3600-3700lbs would do it). I think it's impossible to do it for less than $55K though. Not sure why a Vette enthusiast would not like this idea. If a Camaro outperforms a C6Z, what do you think the C7Z is going to do? If GM kicks it's own ass, we all win! |
