Sorry but your SS with a supercharger still wont be able to beat the 2011 GT500's 1/4 mile of 11.1@124 stock with stickies.

It may not be able to beat it... but it would be a good race... better than saying " The GT500 crushed the Camaro SS" as Motortrend labeled it when they raced the '10 GT500 vs SS stock to stock..... which i recall the GT500 running 12.8 to the Camaro's 12.9....a total of 29' seperation at the finish line... not so "crushing" when its 540 SC HP vs 426 N/A HP, so it would prolly be alot closer than you think!

You don't really think a stock 2010 GT500 is only capable of 12.80's do you? I think that the SS is an easier car to get max straight line performance out of at its stock HP levels than the GT500 as it puts down its power with less tire spin(and same with the new 5.0 Mustang). I've seen guys at my track run 12.20's in bone stock GT500's with stock tires and sever traction problems and some guys have reportedly hit in the high 11's on stock tires. But it usually takes a fair amount of practice to do so. I can't wait to take mine out to the track in the spring and embarrass myself.
The performance difference between a GT500 and a Camaro SS or new Mustang 5.0 is far greater than what it may seem.
Either way any car that can run 12 second quarter mile stock is pretty impressive!!
It's crazy to think that a new V6 Mustang and Camaro can embarrass many a vintage muscle car.

Oh, I know what the GT500 is capable of, but it i was referring to what Motortrend said and how they made it sound like it was just a complete blow away. The Camaro suffers the same wheel spin issue, maybe not as bad as the 5.0, but you gotta know how get off the line without spinning or letting the tq managment take over and cut out to stop wheel spin.

My interest is seeing a SS modded to the same level as the GT500 and then run em through the paces and see what the differences are..... Alot ppl say thats not stock to stock, but running em before the 5.0 came back was far from fair. I say modding the Camaro with a SC and maybe some minor suspension would be equivalent to the GT500 stock.... so say its modded vs stock, but its all equivalent HP... not really any advantage one way or the either.

What this all comes down to is this. If you're going to compare two cars, it's not a fair comparison unless they have more than an age old "rivalry" between the models. If you're going to compare cars on price, lets compare fairly on price. If you're going to compare on displacement, lets compare fairly on displacement. Etc......

You could take ANY car against another and make it into a "CAR X DESTROYS CAR Y!!!!" That means nothing other than you are nothing but an ignorant fanboy... like the people @ TopGear. http://videos.sapo.pt/7JI6khaMu1GBVzcAr4ht

Yes the Camaro technically wins but this is a "review" of a car more than triple the price and obviously much better.

I agree Completely. I laugh at the days a GT mustang was nothing more than a base mustang with a supercharger and hood scoop and the Camaro SS couldn't push 300 horses. Now I can bet that an SS under 400HP will be a rarity.

I agree with that 100%... but now there are so many variables with engine size, superchargers, performance suspension etc.... so it always leaves a wide spread between models like we've had until the 5.0 came back... which alot of ppl have made it out to be as fast as any Ford, Chevy or Dodge thats been built, and thats completely wrong.... its in the same catagory, times, speed, etc... as the Camaro and Challenger, but ppl refuse to accept reality, and rather argue a magazine article.

This is like debating which planet is better, Uranus or Neptune ?? Neptune may contain more nitrogen but Uranus definently does have a weird tilt on it's axis... like okay theyr'e different but theyre similar. Neither is mutually exclusively "better", which is a general term.

All depends on what your opinion of better is.

Mine is, I think the Camaro is the sexiest car made by GM thats not a Corvette.

im sorry, but the sexiest car made by GM is NOT a chevrolet. It's a cadillac. either the coupe or sedan V is God here.

Camaro is the best looking, especially with the xenon Halo headlights.

The CTS V is pretty sharp for the Caddy brand, but GM has multiple brands and for the Chevy brand, it would be the Camaro or Corvette..

I think the CTS-V Coupe looks good but if I want to look more my age (23) I'll pick the camaro's sexy curves all day long.
