May Be A Dumb Question...

Sorry if this is a really dumb question but.. I was at a car show last weekend and a bunch of tuners we rollin around the parking lot useing Nitrous Purge...?
First Question other than Waste Perfectly good Nitrous what dose Nitrous Purge Do? Expell anything wasteful ? Or just waste Nos ?
Second off one guy ripped out of the parking lot in a twin turbo Srt4 Neon. and after every shift not only did the turbo blow off valve scream but almost like a shot of nitrous purge shot out from the grill. Was this nitrous purge or somthing to do with the Turbo. It was pretty sick looking..

If you were seeing it at a car show, the intent was more for show than go. You use the purge function to make sure you get a "pure" nitrous shot when it matters. Don't have a clue what was coming out of the ricer's grill. Again, probably more for show.....

I have seen systems that purge out of the grill. Seems the ricers put more NOS into the atmosphere than they ever do their car. Reminds of a male cat marking its territory, pretty cool if your a *****.

i used my n2o purge behind my grill to cool off my rad.....in my cobaLT.
SOME FOLKS USE c02, looks like naws, cools like naws, but just isnt naws.

ive had many customers cars in who had led purge kits with up to 4 outlets,
and not a damn one of em going into the motor.

You purge it right before you spray to make sure no air is in the lines and you get pure N2o when you spray.

he wasn't putting the nitrous into the motor... he was spraying the outside of his intercooler with it... fairly common with the knowledgeable import guys.

it's a fairly easy/cheap way to super chill one's air to air intercooler. has sort of a neat effect too.

+1

I have that setup on my supra. I have it setup so when the system is armed and I am running over 90%throttle it sprays into the engine til Im at 8 PSI then sprays the intercooler after 8 PSI. Works amazing at dropping intake temps. And it looks really cool. I have strobe leds that purge out of the rearview mirrors.

As stated above you can you it before your run at the track to clear the lines and lower bottle pressure if it is too high. And can also be used to spray the intercooler to lower intake air temps.

"Purge: The purge system is needed for more than producing a cool show for your buddies. A purge kit is needed to evacuate the air from the main feed line. This will eliminate the system from bogging the engine due to the fuel hitting before the nitrous, causing the engine to go rich upon the initial hit. By purging the air from the main feed line you will improve 60-foot times and have a harder hitting nitrous system. The purge kit can also be used to purge down excessive bottle pressure."
