Due to the fact that your battery died only after 3 weeks and that it keeps tripping your charger suggests to me that your battery is not holding a good charge and needs replaced.

It doesn't surprise me that the car wouldn't start, but the fact that the dome light didn't even go on tells me that something else is going on. You either have a significant drain on the battery or a bad battery.

Have you made any electrical mods to the car? If so, you may want to remove them. If not, take your battery out and get it tested. If the battery's OK, you (or your dealer) need to start looking in your car for the current drain.

I just spoke to my dealer and they told me that the battery is only rated for 21 days of non-use (+/- depending on what model and accessories there are). They recommended using the battery tender, which i will be installing today.

The funny part is, they also suggested taking the battery completely out of the car until spring. But this could be a huge problem if someone shuts the trunk (only the electric latch), there is no way to open it back up with the exception of climbing through the back seat into the truck and pulling the manual release. GM didnt miss the target on most things on this vehicle, but im starting to think they did on this whole battery and electronics issue.

We'll see how the battery tender works...

What is the foam under the tires?? and where do you get them?? I know this is for flat spots but I thought about just taking the tires off..

Thanks!!!!!!
The foam under the tires is to keep the rubber off the cold concrete and also helps with reducing the "flat" spot on the tire. I just use plain packing foam from an old computer of mine. Nothing fancy.

I have used Optima batteries since the mid 90`s in every vehicle I`ve had, factory batteries just don`t seem to have much lasting power, I highly recommend the yellow top Optima.

Yes a battery could get weak after 3 weeks. A tender will help with that. No need to remove the battery when using a battery tender.

However, it should be able to be recharged from the underhood remote terminals. Even if it is dead as a doornail. If it won't accept a charge, something is wrong.

If you need to get in the trunk with no electrical power, just jump or hook a charger to the remote underhood terminals and hit the trunk release. Or reach in behind the back seat. Either way is pretty easy.

If you are really not going to drive the car for several months, I would at least disconnect the battery. Not sure what you would gain by removing the battery except it would be easier to check the charge or put it on a charger once a month or so. If the battery is out of the car and no parasitic loads, then a battery should not need to be on a trickle charger.

Check the voltage across the terminals. If it is less than 12 volts, you may have a dead cell.
