ABL (ambient lighting) limited to the doors only?

I was talking about the Ignition video. That was on Chevy's website. It purposely took the time to animate how the interior would look at each step of startup.

Good point, but in the Dubai video, its looked amazing especially since it wasnt finished.
They have talked about the AML in every reveal they have made. Check out the video of the California Reveal, i think it was Cali, anyways it was an 2LT/RS and they were talking about the Active lightpipe system. They have talked about it many times, but have only gone quiet since they found out the issues they are having with it. Anyways i cant wait to they finish the product and have it like the Dubai video, i ordered the IOM trim and it would look amazing at night driving with the ABL on!

I think it would look good while night driving provided there was a dimmer switch. I would imagine that your dash glowing a bright orange at night could be a little distracting.

I know this is slightly off-topic but since you mentioned the IOM interior.

If I just get the IOM dash/door trim...does the ambient light come in orange or blue? I know it's orange with the orange interior (leather)...but is it orange if you just buy the trim pieces?

You would have to get the IOM trim package to getting the red-orange Ambent lighting, if you choose to get just the IOM trim pieces later, then you will have the same blue ABL that you get with your 2LT or 2SS.
Yup its just orange if yur get the trim pieces. I thought that you could get the lighting with it as it say Coloured Lighted trim kits, but mostlikely not

I would geuss they will have a safety to shut the ABL off while the car is in operation. Maybe when it is switched into gear or during movement or something. Maybe a reason for the delay. Can't create a liability. Alot to think about.

Right, but he distinctly says "In the door panel" and never even hesitates with anything else. It sounded scripted and rehearsed. All we can do is wait and see.

From what i know, you can only get the IOM trim package for now, the option for the IOM trim pieces alone is not ready yet, from what i know, i could be wrong. I know they have victory red, rally yellow and IOM trim pieces as options.
For my order it has two separate options, but one shows up $0 and the other $575(canadian)I dont think you can get the trim by itself just yet, but i could be wrong.
And no, i dont think it would come with the orange lighting

If I were GM I'd just say "no it's not going to be ready" then if it got if fixed it'd just be on the customers' cars when delivered. Underpromise and over deliver....imagine how thrilled everyone would be.

Seems like a simple tactic to me.

They will lose preorders by announcing it...a big reason why they probably aren't saying anything. If the ABL news does come out negative when it comes out the GM reps here have some explaining to do and why they were never completely honest. They keep telling us not to worry about it so it better be as promised.

It's on the 2LT / 2SS order description. We've seen videos of it. It is a promised option that we have paid for...some people have opted for 2LT over 1LT and 2SS over 1SS strictly based on this feature. GM better deliver.

As far as I'm aware, it has always been a work in progress. Basically while the car was a work in progress, naturally it was as well. Then when the car was "finished" (I know, it's still a work in progress in some ways as it's not in production yet) ABL was nowhere to be seen. People started asking questions and rumors started that it may not make it. Then it became official by way of fbodfather that they were still working on ABL and that's where we stand today.
