Lightbulb The LS Project

The Camaro LS is a great jumping point for a long term modification. By the time restoration may be necessary, there will be a new generation of engines and parts out there that will enhance the future performance of this vehicle.

Of course, that is the future. For now, I am driving the Camaro LS as a daily driver. The goal of this project is to build a street Camaro that will last for a very long time. Therefore, all performance and cosmetic parts purchased must be able to last for many years to come.

My first modification was a move from OEM heritage steelies to 1LT painted alloys. These alloys are the lightest OEM wheels available for the Camaro, making them a lucrative choice.

Now, I am looking to modify the front end of my Camaro. Right now, I like the Full Length Phantom grille styles. I also like the GMPP Heritage Grille. Which way should I go?

I like the Heritage better than most of the Phantom grilles that are out. Have you also considered an aftermarket spoiler or hood for your LS?

Subscribed.

I have considered those options, too. Right now, I have the budget for only one cosmetic modification. I might follow up with the projectors I've seen on the forum, too. The hood is too expensive for now, and I won't get a spoiler until I decide whether I want a carbon fiber trunk later. Since the car will be designed to last as long as possible, I want to eventually replace any body parts that can rust with carbon fiber or fiberglass.

This project is going to take a very long time and require a lot of patience.

I know the feeling. I find it to be torturous and enjoyable at the same time not being able to do all that I want at once. Torturous because I want it now, but I also enjoy having the next mod to look forward to.

Think about this. You got to start with 100 more ponies than some of us. For me to get there, I'm going to have to spend a lot of money. Remind yourself of this by going outside and doing a burnout. That will help.

I had to jump a car tonight with the Camaro. In the process, I popped the hood and removed the red cap from the positive cable. The red part came off. That was not supposed to happen. Does anyone have an engine bay dress-up kit that includes a replaces this part?
