Stock vs stock, and going by the reported specs/times, I hardly think the Camaro would get "smoked" as some have said. The 300 probably has the edge due to all that torque, though. Modded V6 would be another story. Camaros with a few mods are running in the 13s in the 1/4. You gotta remember, we're comparing our little V6 to a V8 Hemi for pete's sake! It's pretty impressive what the Camaro can do.

Are V6 Camaros this hard to launch with stock tires?

When my Mustang was stock it had ~50lb/ft more torque than a V6 Camaro and weighed less and I could lanuch it pretty good on the stock tires.

I traded a 09 R/T Charger on the Camaro. The Charger most definately would not "smoke" the Camaro. I think it would be a drivers race on the drag strip. A rolling start might be a different story, the Camaro would struggle to keep up.

p.s. On the Charger you can disable stability control but only reduce traction control. There is no way to completely turn traction control off without splicing the harness and introducing a fault (via switch) that disables the system.

Let's get back on topic. No V6 bashing, and the same goes for the other way. I consider "Compensation" and "penile" jokes instigation from the V6 owners.

I had that mod on my Chrager there is a few ways to do it. I pulled my center console up and tapped in there, I put my switch on the side by my leg. When me and My buddy took my cars out both cars were stock. I never got a chance to run them again stock cause shortly after I had a set of Mopar long tube headers, SLP LM1 cat-back, Mopar CAI, Diablo tuner, put on my Charger. Yes I love my Camaro it will flat fly! But my Charger was faster. Yes the Chargers are 4000 pounds but they have TONs of torque, and thats where they get our 6s.

I have a V6 6MT and I have taken it to the track 3x's and have run it down the 1/4 prolly about 15 or so times. My brother has an SS with the 6AT. One particular night, I did beat him...barely. I had a great launch and he did not. Had there been 30 more feet of track he would have edged me. That same night I raced the prez of 417 racing magazine in my bros' SS. He drives a black 5.7 L HEMI Charger. We raced best of 3 and needless to say we didn't need to race a 3rd time. That said, I didn't spank him either. On the second race he launched better and I was thinking that he was actually going to win but I caught him and passed him by the finish line. Now I have reced my brother several times and I have always been able to launch better. I have a pretty good idea where he passes me and how he pulls away from me. I imagine a HEMI would do the same thing just less dramatically. As a parting shot I don't think my bros' SS is very healthy. It has never turned in an uncorrected sub 14 time. It's an auto so even a monkey should be able to turn in a decent time. So take that FWIW. IMO I think that 9x's out of 10 that HEMI is going to walk you. If you're both stock autos I think the chance for you to beat him becomes even slimmer.

Yea I think a SS Camaro will kill a 5.7 Charger, Not a doubt in my mind. A SRT8 Charger and a L99 SS would be a close race I think.

I bought the car in Dec, so I'm not really sure what'll happen when the track isn't freezing cold. Right now we still have my winter tires w/studs on them so there's no traction there. The Pirelli's that came on it are summer tires, but I've read in a couple magazines people are having a little trouble with the V6 & the SS locking up on a launch b/c the gears. With the Pirelli's I can be going 35 and floor it, and it'll spin the tires, but again, that's in the cold..

He's got over 100 foot pounds of torque in advantage over you. Also if you get drag radials, he does too.

The 300C will likely take the win.

I just traded in an 06 Dodge Magnum R/T with the 5.7 HEMI for the 2LT RS Camaro at Christmas time. Had the Mag for over four years and loved it (not as much as the Camaro though!). I told my wife that even though the Mag had the V8 I think that the Camaro would give it a pretty good run (especially with the weight difference) but in the end I would have to give it to the HEMI. As a few others have said those 5.7's made good HP, lots of torque and are faster than they sometimes get credit for. Having said that I still like our Camaro and haven't looked back since we traded it in!!!

Yes, KCIR!! I'm definitely not telling him about the traction control on his car either, so I should get him off the jump and pray he doesn't catch me!!

He'll win - the weight difference doesn't make up for the torque. But your Camaro won't look like a poor man's Rolls Royce and in a V6 vs. V6 competition you'd win. If your boss wants respectable bragging rights, tell him to take his Hemi and go play with an SS.

^^this^^
I don't know how good/close your relationship is with your boss so I won't chance offending you. He really shouldn't be calling out V6 Camaros with his big ole scary HEMI....
