OMG, It's a good thing I wasn't drinking coke... It would be all over the monitor... not a bad idea though....

IN THE 5th GEN CAMARO:

Default is both on
Push button once disables TC only
Twice (within 4 seconds) Enables stabilitrac competitive mode
Holding button for over 7 seconds will disable both.

I've read the manual, I can't find way to have Traction Control Enabled and Stabiltrak disabled. Is there a way or is it just that how the system in.

I am not aware of a way to do that...but the 'competitive mode' is probably the closest thing to it.

What are you trying to do?

Sounds like you do NOT want the tires to spin, but you DO want to drift/yaw???

This is not meant as a wise-ass remark:

You can download a PDF of the owner's manual to your computer, and look through it any time.

(Disclaimer) Folks... If you plan on turning off the Nannies, TC SC, etc... or whatever... please make sure that you understand this car has the capability to and will very quickly get away from you if you are:
1. Not expecting it...
2. Inexperienced... to 400+ HP, (not to be confused with your old honda)
3. In traffic...
4. On public roadways...
5. etc...

Make sure that you are in a safe area, preferrably a race track... failing that, a large open EMPTY parking lot (with permission) prior to turning off the nannies... GM designed them for a reason... You could get seriously kilt or injured or damage property at a very rapid pace... and you will be saying...WOW,,, what happened.. and posting pics of your damaged Camaro and trying to figure out some story to blame it on someone else, and the Ford Fan Boys will be posting videos of you on youtube saying look at this idiot Camaro driver showing off... blah blah blah....

Back to your regularly scheduled programming...

DAMN IT...NOT KILT!!!!! anything but KILT!!!!!

Competitive
Driving Mode

On vehicles with a V8 engine,
the driver can select this optional
handling mode by pressing the
StabiliTrak/TCS button two times
quickly while Traction Control and
StabiliTrak are turned on
. When
the system is on, the StabiliTrak
Off light comes on and StabiliTrak
Competitive Mode will be displayed
in the Driver Information Center
(DIC). See Ride Control System
Messages on page 4-34.

Competitive Driving Mode is
designed and recommended for
use only during closed track events
and at competitive driving venues.
The TCS system uses engine and
brake systems to control wheel spin
during acceleration and cornering
while the StabiliTrak system helps
maintain directional control of
the vehicle by selective brake
application.
When the StabiliTrak button is
pressed again, or the vehicle is
restarted, the StabiliTrak and TCS
will be turned back on to normal
operation.
Notice: When traction control
is turned off, or Competitive
Driving Mode is active, it is
possible to lose traction. If you
attempt to shift with the drive
wheels spinning with a loss of
traction, it is possible to cause
damage to the transmission.
Do not attempt to shift when the
drive wheels do not have traction.
Damage caused by misuse of the
vehicle is not covered. See the
warranty book for additional
information.

I'm trying to imagine a scenario where I am trying to shift gears in the middle of laying down rubber. hmm. Nope, can't.

But you know, whenever there's a caution like this it's because someone before us has tried this and wrecked something. Hats off to the guy who blew his transmission by shifting gears in the middle of a burnout. I wonder if there's a video somewhere of that one.

I agree with Patrick. When it gets nicer out I'm going to have to test this out thoroughly!
