Don't get the 5.0 get gt 500 u get a forged engine, upgrade to a whipple or kenbell make a 800hp monster, but if your going to keep your car stock then go for the camaro it's the better looker of the two they have similar performance, if really want go all out bad ass then get a used zo6 with a pro charger or twin turbos.

The new 5.0 is not all it's cracked up to be. If you like to race with magazine numbers, sure, the 5.0 wins. But if you actually go to a track and run them in person with average, every day people driving them, this is the result.....

Its a matter of preference, they are both nice cars. I test drove both, leaned towards the camaro because of the unmistakable hot look and the interior fit me better as in the seats, steering wheel and stickshift feel all fit me like a glove. The ride is also nice for open rode cruising. The mustang v6 is a little faster and handles high speed cornering better ...but for me or even most people will not even be thinking about going into corner at 80 miles an hour with the back in hanging out. Looks impressive but in reality very few people will be driving like that. But you will see some opening our cars up on the open road from time to time safely when know one is around.
I personally would not advise it though. My Motto is Alway Obey the speed Limit.

32Fountain,

It's your money and sounds like your mind is made up already so I'm not sure why you want opinions from Camaro drivers. Did you go to Mustang forum and ask them why you should pick a Mustang over a Camaro?

You are the one going to be driving it, you don't need our opinion to figure out what you're going to be happy with. They are both fine vehicles in their own rights. Both have pros and cons, but you have to weigh what is important to you.

God, I hate these "why should I buy a Camaro instead of a Mustang" threads! If you have a doubt about what to drive between a Mustang and a Camaro....go the easy route join the herd out there with the other half million Mustangs on the road.

Sounds like you're learning towards the Mustang. Buy whatever makes you happy.

Pull the trigger because life is short.

If you plan on leaving your car stock, cosmetic wise, and do not want to get much attention then get the Mustang. However when the Mustangs have a bunch of cosmetic mods they do look sweet. But the Camaro is just an attention grabber stock and even more so modded.

That's not the norm. With equal drivers the Mustang is faster. They make equal power stock and mod for mod, but the Mustang has a big weight advantage. The Mustang also benefits from more aggressive gearing.

OP, get whatever makes you happy. I seriously considered a GT (sold a Lightning before getting my Camaro) but in the end I liked the Camaro more, despite being a little slower. That's what modding is for anyways right?

Stang is the best buy if you love to look like everyone else on the roadway.

The thumbs up, smiles and honks from the older generations all the way to little school children should be your answer. The Camaro demands attention on the roadway...isn't it odd that all mustang owners are looking are my car from inside theirs?

I have driven both the auto and the manual transmission Mustang with very pleasing results. The dual OHC engine has a unique sound and a tremdous amount of torque for a 5.0 liter engine. The 412 hp rating seems to be understated and the add on performance options are very appealing. There are quite a few companies that are catering to the new Mustang with tuners, CAI systems and exhaust. I am not seeing that with the Camaro. Maybe I just don't know where to look.

Next week I am planning on testing a 2011 Camaro automatic and manual. I have to admit if it was on just looks alone I would be leaning toward the Camaro. However Mustang offers so many options in their appearance groups you can also make the Mustang look pretty darn good as well.

I am asking for your opinion on why I should buy a Camaro over the Mustang.

Thanks,
DL
Either one is fine. If I didn't have a Camaro, I would probably have a Muskrat. Both are better than driving an import from a foriegn company.
