They are both great cars. But the Camaro is just ooh soo fine that no one can take their eyes offen' it. My sweet Camaro is subject admiration, compliments, enthusiastic enquiry,
friendly envy and to being photographed wherever I may park. Can a Mustang owner say as much without lying? |

I actually just made the choice to go with a 2011 pace car edition Camaro 6M over a 2011 GT500 Convertible. I test drove the SS coupe for comparison and although the Shelby is clearly faster and IMHO has a better shifter I felt that the Camaro just had more personality. The car just felt "special" to me. And it just looks sooooooo good. Apparently I'm not the only one who feels this way...
I hope you enjoy whatever you choose!!!! PS - my business partner who came to look at both with me is now deciding what color to buy the GT500 in (and he is FAR from a car guy) - so I guess to each his own! |

The mustang is faster and has a better stereo. I like the camaro's looks more and find it roomier and more comfortable, and I like the LS engines. Pick whichever suits you, you can't really go wrong

I went through the same process
I research cars to death. Ihave owned 2 Corvettes, a 911 widebody, Mustang GT, and many others. The motor press LOVES the Mustang GT. However, after driving both and looking at the options I chose the Camaro SS. Here's why:
1. The GT is a slightly more viseral driving experence. (At first). They have added a sound tube into the firewall, (check it out), and it sounds louder. You can add a CAI on the Camaro and it sounds better (IMHO). 2. The GT has a new DOHC motor, the Coyote, which the motor press is orgasmic about. (It does have some significant problems though....check out the Mustang forums about the "tiocking problem"). 3. I have owned three cars with the LS3 motor. (Two C6 Corvettes and now the 2011 SS). This motor is bullet proof. An amazing piece of work. No oil loss, no leaks, and so much low-end torque you can't believe it. 4. The Camaro has IRS. The GT has the same solid axle that it has always had. (THis was a big deal to the motor press for a long time, but now it isn't for some reason). 5. The Camaro SS has Brembos at all fouir corners. THe GT has them in front only and then with the $1,800 add-on package. 6. THe GT has 19 inch wheels as the top option. THe SS has 20's standard. (And better-looking wheels IMHO). 7. The GT has a much tighter interior if you are tall. I am 6' 3" and the GT is very, very tight. Uncomfortable for long drives. 8. The GT body is OLD. Yep, they refreshed it a couple of years ago, but it is still the same, essentually. The Camao is bad-ass. I could go on and on....but to me the SS was the better choice. It's up to you....but DO NOT simply make a decision based upon the motor press. Make your own decision. Thanks, Desert Dog |

I think you should get the mustang its a great fit for your personality.
Think about it you hesitate while trying to make a decision. You sir are the type of guy we want driving mustangs because we love to race the guy that hesitates. But really drive both see which one feels better youll get props either way and get shit either way.

Thanks for posting the Boss Dyno's run. The HP number was really impressive up about 40 over the 5.0, but the TQ seems to be really low, I was expecting to see numbers over 400 as well. Also what is up with that hideous color combination.

I'm looking for a vert and finally got a chance to sit in both the Camaro 2SS RS vert and the Mustang GT vert at the Toronto car show last week. IMHO, the Camaro exterior design blows away the Mustang, but the Camaro really looks cheap inside compared to the Stang. Here in Canada, they are going to charge me close to $60K (taxes in) for the 2SS RS vert, and the interior does not feel anything like a $60K car should. I was THIS close to placing an order...now having sat in both vehicles, I am not so sure. What makes it even harder is that at this price range, I can score a GT500 and get so much more for the dollar. Ah, pain of being Canadian. Still on the fence...

I love the Camaro interior, the Mustang one is definitely not bad but its not memorable at all. The Camaro makes you feel like you are driving something special and unique, regardless of the material of its components.

I appreciate the 55 replies I received to the above referenced post. Most of them were sincere and helpful. I did drive the 2011 6M SS Camaro today equipped with the standard 3.45 rear gear. I cannot say anything bad about the test drive. The Camaro is one fine ride to say the least. I then went to the Ford dealership and drove a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 6M with the standard 3.31 rear gear. While the Camaro wins in the exterior appearance category the Mustang excelled in the performance category. Since performance is most important to me I am going with the Mustang 6M and the optional 3.73 rear gear. I had previously driven the Mustang with the 3.73 gear and it was most impressive. If Ford offered a 4:10 from the factory I would go with that one. Thanks again. |
