Daniel, you never heard of any bumps on the inside of the tube?

Have you ever looked inside the tube? There are two pronounced bumps where the thread inserts for the MAF sensor are cast into the tube.

If we can see them, why can't you?

Been driving the car all weekend under idle to full acceleration, stop and go,highwayspeed etc, no CEL. I really like the Volant and Magnaflow combo. The acceleration is crisp and power is instantaneous.

Cool, I'll be sure to post what I think after I install mine and get some seat time in it. I wonder how many guys decided against the Volant due to the rash of CEL's people seemed to be getting?

That's the main reason it took me so long to pull the trigger on it. After having input of what to look for that might allow unmetered air in, I don't think I'll have an issue.

....I'll also post as to wether or not mine has the "bumps".

I'm not telling anybody to do this, but I heard that you could check for intake leaks by blowing the butane from a bernz torch[ unlit ]around the area you want to check. If you have a leak, the idle will pick up.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Seems like an easy way to see if the MAF gasket is leaking air.

Installed my Volant tonight and no matter how I position the breather hose, it's almost right on top of the pulley. After running it for only around 5 minutes, it's almost worn a cut through the hose. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? :(

I'm having the same issues with my Volant CAI. I received my first CEL after running the car for one hour. Cleared the CEL and checked everything. One day later the CEL came back on. Bought shorter screws for the MAF and after a day or so, the CEL went out but came back on after two days. Took the Volant out and put the stock intake back in and cleared the CEL. Ran the car for a week, no issues. Put the Volant back in, CEL came back on after half a day. Called OnStar and they accused me of using the wrong octane gas which to me means I'm getting lean codes. I even tried cycling through the OBD-II, no help.

No loving the Volant right now!

I have had my Volant for about 9 mos now, with about 3k miles. The only problem I had was when I first got my cai, the box had some rough edges around the name plate. I called Maryland Speed, where I purchased it, and received a new one in about 5 days.

Love the sound and performance I am getting with it right now, but maybe that is because I don't have a lot of miles on it.

Well I was going to buy mine this next friday but I think I'll wait until I see if this CEL issue gets worked out. Thats all I need is the wifey to see a CEL on our new camaro.

Blackbean, actually if you take a lite cig..or some other smoldering weed the vacuum from a leak will be drawn into it. Not too sure I'd do the whole butane thing...KKAABOOM

I got the CEL again. :( Took it to AutoZone and it's posting two codes, both show that it's running lean. Had them take a look at the install to see if they can figure out if there are any leaks. Everything looked good to them as well (wated another set of eyes on it due to mechanical engineering pride). Anyway, pulled the Volant out again last night for the 5th time. This time, I put it back in the box. Calling Volant today.

This unit is garbage on the Camaro. Been there - dont that - returned it. Admittedly it looks nice - nothing but ongoing issues.
Went with an AirRaid.

Volant is in denial about the quality of this product - and what the hearsay in the industry circle is that they really don't give a sh#@ about improving it for the Camaro.
