I say let's just power thru it! However, I do think that we need to allot some time for breaks- at least 15-30 min every now and then to stretch the ol legs a bit...

Too late, took it our for a short spin. Wow, the noise was awesome when it first fired up! I can see the noise possibly getting old someday, will have to try it for a while. You can't hear it above the stereo and it really isn't that loud. It did attract some attention at the gas station when I stopped to make sure it was still tracking correctly.

So, from what I've gathered here is that you guys are waiting on us to make a decision for the meet-up time at Cabazon...what I'd like to know is if you guys have come to a general consensus about what time you will be leaving the Bay Area?

On Mindz first post, he suggested you guys are meeting the Bakersfield peeps at around 5-6am. According to Google Maps, it's about 3.5 hours from Bakersfield to Morongo Casino in Cabazon, provided there is no traffic or stops along the way. So, if you guys do indeed leave Bako by 6am, you guys may be arriving at Cabazon somewhere in the vicinity of 10am-10:30am?

Please correct any information that I have posted so that I can pass this info along to the SoCal peeps.

No he says they plan to leave San Mateo at 5:00am. Which could put them in Bakersfield around 10:00am

Gotcha...so, best-case scenario, if they leave Bako around 10:30am, that would put them in Cabazon around 2-2:30pm (?).

Then from Morongo (Cabazon), it's a good 5 hours to Firebird area...

Ok, so when you guys finalize all the details on when you are leaving your areas, let us know and we'll try to work around your guys' time frame.

If any of you guys decide to come down early and stay in Bakersfield, let me know. We could set a meet up/dinner the night before.

We need to plan everything ass backwards..

If we need to be in Chandler for the Meet and greet at 7:30 we should plan on being there no later than 6-6:30

Quote:
Thursday’s Schedule (April 14th, 2011)
8:15 am - 5:00 pm: Sponsor/Vendor setup at Firebird.
7:30 pm: Meet and greet at host hotel
.

So lets plan backwards based on that time and allow for commute traffic in the Phoenix area that someone mentioned.

Pleasanton to Bako (fuel up) is 260 miles (EB 580 - EB 205 - NB 5 - EB 120 - SB 99) picking up Sac, Modesto/Merced and Fresno (break) and Bako (fuel) (4 1/2 hrs to be safe).

Bako to Cabazon is 205 miles ( EB 58 - SB 395 - SB 15/215 - EB 10) meeting with SoCal (4 hrs/safe)

30-45 minute break (fuel up)

Cabazon to Quartzsite AZ (93 octane) is 160 miles (EB 10) 80 MPH is 2 hrs (cause there's nothing out here.....)

Quartzsite AZ (fuel up) to Chandler (Courtyard/Marriot) is 150 miles (EB 10) 80 MPH is 2 hrs but figure in traffic in Phoenix, so 2.5 hrs

13ish hours to be there by 6-6:30 puts us leaving Pleasanton by no later than 5AM. So Depart at 5AM, hook up with Sac in Manteca at 5:30; hit Fresno around 7:15-7:30, leave Bako around 9:30, Cabazon around 1:30, leave by 2 to make Quartzsite by 4 and then onto Chandler by 6-6:30 depending on traffic.

So it looks like we will get to the Casino around 1-1:30. I way over estimated the time from Pleasanton to Cabazon but we'll see how long the gas/breaks/meets take.

Hey, thanks for doing this! Okay, so we should plan to leave Cabazon around 2pm.

I'll post this info, with your permission, on the SoCal thread. I'll let our peeps know to be prepared to meet at Cabazon around 1pm and wait for you guys.

Is everyone good with this info? If so, I'll post in our section (edit)

This could definitely work. IBM/2SS/RS/LS3 had it right. We were trying to wait and see what time you were hoping to leave cabazon and work around that time. What Jeff did sounds like a good plan. We have to figure out if the trip will be one or two days before we finalize anything.

I'm putting that trip info in the original post Jeff.

Are we good with Dublin-Hacienda Crossing (Shell-Starbucks) for the Bay Area group

and Manteca (In-N-Out) for Sac/Manteca and north???

This group can get a phone call while we're eastbound on 120 and meet us (on the roll) as we turn onto southbound 99.

Thoughts???? Input???

I didn't vote because I'm good either way. TBH all I care about is that:

1. We have enough designated stops for restroom, gas, and food breaks. Plus we have extra stop points planned just in case an extra stop is necessary. Our stopping points should have enough parking space to accommodate our convoy.
2. Most of the driving is done during day light hours.
3. We do this in a convoy fashion and stay as a group (The lead car understands that they're driving a group of cars and leads accordingly).
4. If I get loss, someone will come find me.
