Have you ever seen a BMW M3/M5 (or any other high perf coupe/car, bar a few Germans/Japs)in AWD?

Putting AWD on a sports coupe... is taking the essence of that car away IMHO...

Most of the top end lamborghinis and porches are awd, the GTR always has been, most of the audi S', etc. The biggest thing is making sure it's rwd biased. AWD is ridiculously fun on road courses/twisties. Nothing like going sideways and giving it MORE throttle lol

If it made about 750HP or more from the factory and weighed about 1000lbs less, then yes I would like AWD.

I find it a little amusing this would come up about the same car some people consider much to heavy as it is.

it would be a pretty cool option especially if you could turn it on and off

and they could give it an XSS or XRS name...to signify the all wheel drive.

It really wouldn't make sense. The engineers would have to drop some major poundage somewhere to keep the weight reasonable with the addition of at least one more differential (probably two), beefier axles, trans components, electronics, etc.

If it could be done keeping the weight similar to now, you would have an absolute monster though. Probably low 12's/high 11's stock and it would handle like a beast.

That would take all the fun out of doing a burnout.

Yup....but then we run into this issue:

I feel what you are saying but most porsches are actually rwd especially the one you put up a picture of. All Porches that say GT in the name are rwd. But anyway I have to agree with the people and the weight argument. If the camaro could be the same weight and be awd then i might be interested........ but then again that would mean the rwd one is even lighter I would probably want the 3500lb rwd one lol

Huh, you're right, I always thought they were awd considering the 997 turbo and turbo s are awd, but they have only been awd since 2010, so maybe the next generation gt2/3 will be awd.

On a side note, while I was looking into that I saw that the 997 turbo s does 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. Jesus!
