2010 Leftover a Wise Consideration?
I've just begun searching for my next new car and at the top of my current list is a 6cyl RS Camaro with a manual. Given the massive initial demand for these cars I'm surprised that I'm finding alot of leftover 2010 models still available, especially 2SS V8's. With little incentives and the same MSRP's is there any compelling reason to still consider a new 2010? I have found a few dealers with extra discounting on the 10's which may entice me if the deal is impressive enough. Is GM helping the dealers move these older cars with hidden discounts?

I'm in the same boat right now. I'm seriously considering a leftover new 2010 SS/RS w/auto, sunroof, and polished wheels at my nearby dealer. The salesman is a friend, and is giving me supplier pricing (which I don't qualify for) and a further discount along with the $1000 loyalty offer, as well as what I asked for on my trade-in. It amounts to about $4100 off the MSRP. I wish someone could tell me that this is a deal that I should jump on to.

Resale value is less then the same 2011 as it's a full model year older. If the upfront discount isn't enough to offset this fact, then there is no compelling reason to buy an older lot lizard when the current model year is readily available.

I agree totally. 5 years from now, a 2010 will be worth about $2000-2500 less than a 2011. I'd be looking for about $4K off MSRP on a 2010 2SS at this point - with current incentives (and low demand due to no HUD) you have a good chance of getting it.

![]() I just happened to stumble upon a few 2010's equipped the way I prefer while beginning my quest for a new Camaro. Upon further investigation it appears many of these leftovers are likely held by dealers who were once asking over sticker so now they're choking on the glut. I'd still consider one if the price was truly a stellar deal.

I'm kinda hoping for a GM-wide 0% financing sale to purchase my Camaro coupe. Wishful thinking?

I was waiting for this also but I decided to get one now instead of driving my truck 85 miles a day...I found a Black 2010 SS/RS, auto, sunroof, with 48 miles on a showroom floor in Dallas. Stickered for $38,550, got it for $33,324 before TTL. I thought it was a great deal, I would highly recommend a 2010 leftover if you're looking for a steal.

If there's nothing compelling to you about the 2011's (or soon to be built 2012's) then it's all about the pricing. Basically every 2010 car on the lot is costing the dealer now in floorplanning interest. Traditionally they try to make up for this in the financing so get yours lined up first, and THEN deal.

Your dealer is an idiot. Your dealer is probably so stupid that they thought holding on to this car would somehow make it more valuable in the long run for winning the world record being the most lot-rotten new car ever sold. In this immense stupidity, your dealer forgot about this goal and decided to sell you a car at a stupidly low price. You'd be equally stupid not to take the deal.
Be sure to take note of how it drives. Make sure it has no symptoms of lot rot.

Dealers are only selling the 2010 leftovers at a stupidly low price because there's currently a $3000 manufacturer to dealer incentive through May 2nd for the leftover 2010 2SS. The dealer may be an idiot and forgetful but he's not crazy.
