On a side note, while I was looking into that I saw that the 997 turbo s does 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. Jesus!

The Porsche GTs have a very rear-biased weight distribution IIRC, which is why they can hook up so quick and go!

The turbo s isn't one of the gt cars.

Awd would enhance performance substantially in the wet and other conditions, would you rather have a car that performs at/or near it's best on just a sunny day or anytime, anywhere, anyplace ?? The weight would not slow it down if they introduced a torque vectoring rear diff, on Car and Driver's annual Lightning Lap the 333-hp V6 AWD 4100 lb. Audi S4 was within a second of the Camaro SS(LS3), proving that these systems can enhance performance substantially, reviewers of the S4 note how it seems to defy the laws of physics and is so light on its feet thanks in part to the torque vectoring rear diff.....

Curb Weight 3714 lbs. [1684 kg] 3637 lbs. [1649 kg]

The s4 weighs way less than 4100 lbs. Maybe you're thinking of the old 4.2 powered model. . .?

I thought you were responding to my comment about the turbo s running to 60 in 2.6s.

Car and Driver weighed the 6MT, it weighs 4093 lbs with the active rear diff(which I believe adds weight). In fact it was .4 seconds quicker around VIR than the old 420-hp Audi RS4. Those torque vectoring diffs do magic, just like in Acuras SH-AWD, BMW X5/X6 M models too...

The V6 S4 does 12 second 1/4 miles at 109-110+ mph too despite this weight, proof that weight isn't always the direct problem as some want to point out, adding weight doesn't mean it's sporting predentials go away. Look how the 5,000 lb BMW X6 or X5 M handle on a track, and tell us how its nothing short of astounding.... thanks to their trick awd systems.

Back to your question no i would not want all wheel drive
i like my RWD.
snow tires and being a whole lot easier on the clutch/gas works magic on getting around in ice and wet conditions

Edit+ last week when i left work i drove home on UNPLOWED roads/hills and i got around just fine you just have to get the right snow tire hope this helps enjoy your G35

If the Camaro were AWD, it wouldn't be a Camaro anymore. If I lived in a heavy snow climate then I would probably drive a turbo AWD car like an Audi, Evo, or Subaru. If two cars for you is an option I'd have something like the above for winter and the Camaro in the summer. I bought the Camaro for it's retro looks and for it's heritage. It should not be compared to Porsche or any other car because it's not in the same league. It's not the best handling car out there compared to AWD exotics, nor is priced anywhere close. It is a modern American muscle car with stunning looks and incredible potential for gobs of HP for a very affordable price.

AWD cars are awesome, I've owned a few, but I wouldn't want the Camaro to be AWD, even if it were lighter. It just wouldn't be a Camaro anymore. Just my $.02 on the subject. Interesting topic though, I like it.
