A lot of people will be doing the same if they buy them the day they come out. Wait a while and like a Shelby today, you'll be paying under MSRP.

Exactly: depends on production numbers. I imagine they'll be quite a few of them, which will drive down the dealer premiums.

If you shop around and find a good dealer, you can probably have one built for you for under MSRP. I was offered a Shelby at cost and recently a Raptor at cost. The dealer still makes money.

Well there will be fools who just want this car because its the latest thing and that will drive up the price. GM is not promissing this will be a limited edition so that should keep the greedy speculators from driving up the price as much as they did with the GT500.

There are several dealer members on this site that sell at MSRP, check with them on the ZL1.

My family has bought a number of vehicles where I put a deposit on my ZL1. I'm first on the list there and will be paying MSRP. They refuse to add dealer adjustments. Heck, when they first got the ZR1 when it was released they sold for MSRP.

I feel for those that don't have dealers in this area with those type of ethics. Even if you have more money than sense, do not pay any dealer "market adjustments" ever. It allows them to keep practicing this unethical crap and screws all buyers, not just yourself. Walk out and find another dealer or wait a little. The depreciation hit is bad enough on new cars, but paying $5-20k more than MSRP is retarded, especially when in a year or two these cars could be had for under MSRP.

I know you can't tell people what to do with their money, but that type of stupidity ruins it for the rest of us.

It WILL happen...and all you have to do is pass up the buffoons who think you're too stupid to know any better.

MSRP or less....don't settle for these imaginary markups because "it's normal".

"Sticker price" and "MSRP" are fighting words to me lol (I never pay sticker!). In the first year this one will be white hot, so expect dealers to throw the bull around. I would say after the first full year you'll see some sanity at the dealers, and once again they'll beg for you to take them off the lot (or make an order).

Hope they'll be around when it comes time for me to buy again.

Ford never said the GT500 was going to be a limited production run either. Sure, that was the general thought at the time, but Ford never said that would be the case. Of course, a lot of people assumed it would be, and it's not like the dealers did anything to correct the assumption, thus lots of people were willing to pay way over sticker just to ensure they could put on in their garage.

I figure it will be much the same for the ZL1, with quite a few people willing to pay dealer ADM's just to get into one. Will all dealers ask a premium? No, but a vast majority will, and since there will be considerably less of them being made that the base or SS Camaro, you will likely have to pay to put one into your garage during the first production run.

Car dealerships are businesses. Businesses exist to make a profit. Asking a price for a high-demand product that is greater than said product's actual value equals a chance at more profit.

How, exactly, does that make a dealership asking for a premium "unethical"? A new car, especially a performance care like the ZL1 is not something anyone is entitled to, nor is it GM's purpose to ensure anybody who wants one in their garage gets one. Does placing an ADM on a car put it out of reach for a lot of folks? Yep, but I bet they will be able to sell as many as they make, markup or not.

AMEN!!!!I'm glad to see other people think the same as I do about dealer markup. If we could just get everyone on board including those fortunate ones with more money than they know what to do with to refuse to pay this then it would be better for us all. I will be considering buying one next year but I definately won't if I run into this.
