I think the person who wrote the article for C&D about how the ZL1 is going to be $47,000 got confused because the price of the Indy Pace Car was announced at the same time and place (Chicago Auto Show). Where else would he have gotten the price since the ZL1 is still a year away from production and as Fbodfather has stated, "How do you price something when you're not done?" That is what my statement has to do with the ZL1.

Not sure I agree with you here. They are two very different cars. I would rather have a fully loaded ZL1 than a base model C6. I will be very interested to see which car is actually faster.

It's SIMPLE ----

It has the bowtie on the grille........simple as that!

I'm sorry but MRC does count but, what if they let us aftermarket with a warranty.

2SS's -1SS's were breaking stock parts, wheel hopping like rabbits, can't get enough air (CAI), needs a better throttle-body, etc, etc.

Any amount over let's say 47K doesn't sound like a fix to me.

We have to pay out the @$$ for the fixes.

...and if this were 1969, we would. The world has changed.

I've posted on several threads about CAFE and why it will eventually make the days of inexpensive V8 performance a thing of the past. (we didn't make the rule.....)

Pricing is always one of the last things done on a car. True: you have a target in mind, but anyone who gives you a price on this car is guessing (in most cases with little or no real knowledge of the content and percentage of 'specific' parts .....meaning those being unique to the ZL1)

I certainly don't want to dampen your zeal for what you see - but I also don't want someone out there thinking: 43K!!!!!
Interesting that you would pick the number $43..

Thank you fbodfather for clearing up all this pre hype about the price. I mean the car is still in developement, then comes an announcement from Car and Driver saying the base price will be 47K and this was not even announced by Chevy in the press conferance.

The LZ1 looks and sounds awesome and has some major improvements so Chevy has to do some number crunching for the final price and possible options add ons.

That being said my hope is that the base msrp will stay below the 50k price lets say $48,995.00 for the basic LZ1. If it's higher then that will I still buy it? Yup with the new laws going into affect down the road I'm not taking any chances by waiting.

You only go around once in life and I'm going to live it to the fullist.

PS: Hope you add automatic transmission

I think they should shoot for the best performing car under 50K.

Hopefully the Z06 and ZR1 pricing is fresh in everyone's minds. Priced through the roof equals selling hundreds instead of thousands, and with monster rebates to even move the hundreds.

What was the biggest mistake of the 1969 ZL1? A huge MSRP.

Ok, without sounding like a know it all, I am going to chime in:
Scott and GM I hope ur listening:
I AM THE BUYER you want for the ZL1, 35+, single family home 2 incomes, bachelor's degree, good job, good credit.
I am loyal GM to the core, my wife drives an 08 pontiac vibe, I am still rockin my 2000 ws6 with less than 37k on the original odom, but highly modded for street and TRACK use. I have raced at pocono with one of our local corvette clubs numerous times (see my fquick link in profile), been trained by a pro am driver at these events, have been in a 07 zo6 brand new at over 130+ in the straight aways, so i have a little knowledge of cars beyond the street.
This being said I have been holding off on purchasing SOMETHING new, camaro, vette, cts-v, as i said gm and only gm.
As this will most likely be my last performance car, as I am going to be keeping the TA and have 2 fun cars , cuz the wife luvs me, i am doing serious waiting watching and deciding before i buy the next and most likely final machine.
I luv the new SS, but it is not for me at that price of 35K. I know i will and can spend more than that but want way more for my dollar, I am considering between 40k- 5ok for the next one. Up till this point it was a c6 Grand sport used or an '08 cts-v or up.
But now the ZL1 arrives and i pause, looks awesome, the technolgy, the TRACK potential, I am quite frankly blown away, but wait what is the price to be.......
At more than 50K for a camaro, I just have a hard time swallowing that with all the cars that I have been exposed to, z06s, cts-vs, my buddys dad just bought, and it is sick, new cts-v coupe with the custom interior!
I still have to say that I would like to see a manual fully optioned ZL1 roll off the lot for less than 50K total. Any more than that and I will move up market used and go as fast, handle as good or better, and stop quicker. I am not worried about the warranty issue or modding as I know a guy that is very close to GM's heart, having helped develop, race and mod things for gm, Andy Pilgrim(if you know racing you know that name), and goodyear, right here in PA.
Also from an economic view I think in general you would just sell a whole lot more camaros.
Scott, and GM I tip my hats to you the new cars and trucks are awesome and my family and I will never drive anything else, but that being said I cant spend more than 50K for a camaro.

Same here. Now if a dealer will let me get supplier pricing on it since I'm entitled to it, I'd order it tomorrow if I could.
