Welcome back ROD1....hope to see you run again one of these days. If you haven't seen it, check out AAC's thread about upgrading the stock V6 torque converter to drop another 2 or 3 tenths off the quarter. 11s in no time! lol.

So what do you do if you want more performance? Either get the sawz-all out or add more ponies. What inspired me to gamble on the v6 was the new R35 GT-R (whoa, I know I know, let me run with this before you think I'm an idiot) The GT-R is a very capable car using a v6 Twin Turbo. But it weighs in at a hefty 3829 lbs. YET - its performance numbers are off the chart. Noted, the ATTESA drivetrain plays a critical role; but you still have all that heft to lug around. With the N/A Camaro producing 312 hp, weighing in at 3700 hp, producing a respectable turbo kit for the car, I did not see the 480hp flywheel target being too far out of reach. The fact that rear mount turbo camaros are making approx 420hp on 6-7 lbs of boost shows that things are def on the right path. American tuners have been making American cars hook for years, so I saw the AWD advantage of the GT-R being negated by proper hooking of the RWD Camaro and hopes of having better top end. I think the direction the v6's need to take it getting support for euro and asian tuners. The LLT matches up more with Nissan VQ's and VR6's than LSx motors...The LSX is far easier to tune the LLT needs support from a new face IMO. (this does not discredit the amazing work Trifecta has done - for a one man band his stuff is the heat!) But in short. If a 3800+ lb car with 480 flywheel hp (who knows how much is loss through that drive-train) can produce sweet numbers, I say every v6 has a chance

The LLT has put Chevy back in the small displacement/hi-performance arena. Hope to see a turbo DI 3.6 or 3.8 from them soon. As for power, I calculate that mine is putting 426 at the crank (18% loss) with 4.5 psi. I don't see 500+ being a problem before having to get into the engine. GTR will definitely have an advantage on the curves, but with that kinda power you can blow by on the straights!

one must first determine the limitations of the tranny/drivetrain on the V6 in ratio to HP desired. Why throw all the HP in there w/o proper support?
C'mon GM, introduce more goodies for the V6 crowd, for it's not only a V8 market...

![]() I haven't located a clutch stateside. AAC talked of stall-converters for the autos but they bought a new one from GM just to have it cut apart and re-worked. Can you just imagine the cost that's involved?

There is another gentlemen on here offering a stall converter specifically for the V6. I am also going to let Circle D look at my stock one and they are going to make one for my V6.

Not sure what will come of that, but I'm believe that bridge will be crossed once the HP issue is resolved (why work on beefing up a tranny when there's not enough power to pop it yet) AND Conversely, Zmadness, Gretchen, and rod1 all have stock trannys and I havent heard any of them having any drive-train issues. For now, adding traction suspension components that help negate wheelhop will also help limit damage to the tranny and rear end. Adding a stall to the autos out there would be awesome BTW - but sucks for us Manual guys bc the fastest v6's are already autos (which still has me scratching my head - I need to get mine to the track..) But to cover this base one more time - why has the Camaro NOT been able to run boost higher than 7lbs of boost at this time?

It will be interesting to see what breaks first. I'm betting it is the tranny, but we could also pop the heads off these things if we put too much boost on them. Time will tell...
