Count me in,,,1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd notchy can't race this car cause I feel like the trans is going to Shit in those gears, really bad when the trans temp is below 180 Degrees, Bitting the bullet until I have to go to the dealer. I expected more from 2011 technology and I changed the fluid out at 1500 miles and now at 4000 just staying with the RPM's havn't dumped the clutch yet cause I see $$$ signs and time from work to drop of at the dealer for said issues

Your transmission needs to warm up for quick shifting, else you should ease into the gears. The tranny will not be fully warmed up enough unless you take the RPMs close to redline a few times. I think 180* is the 12 o clock on the temp gauge, you ought get it there before shifting hard/fast. I don't get grinding ever on a warm trans.

Its just the 1-2 shift for us. Happened twice, if you really try to hurry the 1-2 it wants to grind so I slowed the shift down a hair and works good. We never go hard till she's warmed up. 9872 km on ours.

I understand what tut saying...but sayin a transmission needs to warm up before it won't grind is just a bull $#!+ cop out... maybe a little stiffer yes, notchy...maybe, grinding...never! Mine wa taken in and finally duplicated so thy are ordering the parts for second gear to replace the syncro and possibly the idler gear..

Mine has been in to fix the 1st to 2nd grind as well. It was so bad I had to wait till the RPM's came all the way down to an idle before I could shift. It took the dealer a while to get it in and by the time I could get it into them, I couldnt even get into 2nd gear, had to skip it completley and go 1st to 3rd. They told me it was the second gear block? I dont think that sounds right but im no tranny expert. They did fix it under warranty. Hope it holds up this year...

I have also experienced grinding from 1-2 and 2-3. Also difficulty getting into those gears at higher RPMs. I chalked it up to being a new stick driver but after reading all of this, I'm going to re-assess this Spring when I bring it out of the garage. Like others, the grinding usually comes when trying to shift quickly (yes clutch to the floor).

Yeah, that's the problem I had with mine, They are replacing the 2nd gear syncro and a couple other things on Tuesday.

voted. not only do i have the notchy feeling when shifting to second but two days ago i was getting on the car pretty heavy while on the highway and it would not let me shift into 5 gear. this happened about 4 times during the same drive.

the car was not cold, i had given it a good amount of time to warm up. Absolutely sucks !!! Anyone know what the cause of this might be?

i'm so disappointed on the transmission in this car.

Mine will grind from 1st to 2nd when you are getting on it, does it when the trans is warm too, sometimes speed shift it will not even go in, it just grinds. It has 3000 miles on it and it has done it since new. Told dealer about the thread but they just said they would look into it.(bs). Waiting on GM to fix what is broke, and you know they have to know about it!!

OK they replaced the whole 2nd gear pack. ZERO problems now. Combined with my MGW this transmission is AMAZING and shifts as smooth as silk. no more "notchy" feel, as it has a nice solid feel when it goes into gear EVERY time in EVERY gear.

I wish it had felt this good from the factory!!

My car is back at the dealer for the 1st to 2nd grind right now. It only does this with a cold transmission and my car only has 100 miles on it.

I had the same problem shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. It was really hard to get into 3rd gear. So I took it into the dealer and they changed out the 2nd and 3rd gear synchros, blocking ring and input shaft. Now it's really really smooth. here's the work order
