In my L99 I have a Maggie tvs2300 with LT headers and intake. I am right at 500 rwhp. The Whipple is impressive!

Get a cam and you won't be disappointed, torque converter and you should be good

was it necessary to remove the front end for installation? Im assuming it was removed to be able to get to the crank to pin it. Right?

You have to remove the front bumper to install the heat exchanger.
