I fully understand the need to stop to stretch your legs, gassing up and to use the restroom but we shouldn't stop to socialize during our stops. Just my .02. I still plan to ride with the convoy unless it seems to be taking too much time and if that happens then I'll break off and see you guys when ya get there.

I agree J.
Im the same way... I wont stop until Im running on fumes, or my bladder is ready to explode. Wife hates that... And my stops consist of getting gas, preventing atomic bladder shockwaves, and buying a cold drink/snack. 20 mins TOPS

That's exactly how I am. My fiancé can't stand taking a long trip with me either.

Holy crap guys and gals...I think we're stressing too much about having fun

If we all decide to leave a bit earlier or at the scheduled time, everything else will just happen. I think that the people at the front of the pack will set the pace for the rest of the group. The only ones that can slow down are the ones at the back.

As far as stops/breaks, maybe we should have a time limit or something. Although if 35 people gotta poop and there's only 1 toilet or something, then there's a problem.

OK. So the "meet and greet" is nothing official or formal. It technically starts whenever people get there until they want to go to bed. So there is no hurry for us to get there at any specific time. I think our current schedule is good.

My 2 cents

Convoy Time Table
Our convoy time table should be flexible enough to provide for a relaxing cruz and take into consideration possible traffic congestion and other miscellaneous issues, e.g., slow ass drivers, etc. I don't mind a fast pace but I hate being rushed! As part of our time table we should set a 15-20 min limit on our official stopping points. This should provide enough time for everyone to do their thing. People need to be respectful of this and each other so if you tend to be a lollygagger, don't do it. As for getting up at 3 am to meet the time table (Sacto person here), well then that’s what has to be done and I have no problem with that. As long as most of our driving is during day light hours then getting up early is inconsequential; besides that’s what my Armenian Princess prefers!

Stopping Sites (SS)
All our SS’ should be right off the highway(s); the one(s) we are using to get to our final destination. By doing this, it will make it easier for people to find and less likely they will get lost. The SS' should only be meet up locations as we progress with our trip and should be big enough to accommodate the parking of our convoy, as well as provide gas, restroom, and food accommodations.

I'm looking forward to a fun time with you guys so the better organized we are, the less stress we'll have, which should enhance our enjoyment of this event.

To simplify our meet up process I would like to suggest two types of meeting locations. The following is a breakdown of the two types:

1. Area Meeting Locations = locations where people in an area (local spot), e.g., Fresno, etc, meet/form up to converge with the bigger convoy. These areas can be decided upon by the folks in that area and coordinated (time & locations) by Team/Area Leaders. The number of these locations can be as many as needed.

2. Convoy Meeting Locations = established locations just off the convoy route highway(s) where the larger convey will stop and pick up others to join. They will have designated meet up times so others can be there at a specific time to converge with the larger convoy. These areas will be designated by the Area/Overall leaders and should be big enough to accommodate the parking of our convoy, as well as provide gas, restroom, and food accommodations. The total number of these locations should be about 4 to 5 and strategically located to ensure people won’t run out of gas before reaching the next stop. To help facilitate a smooth assimilation into the larger convoy, convoy members should be provided a contact phone number(s) for the location coordinator for each stop. That way folks will be able to see if the convoy is on time, has left, and/or inform the convoy that they are running late.

Update: Sorry, was at work and rambled on!

If we need to be in Chandler for the Meet and greet at 7:30 we should plan on being there no later than 6-6:30

So lets plan backwards based on that time and allow for commute traffic in the Phoenix area that someone mentioned.

Pleasanton to Bako (fuel up) is 260 miles (EB 580 - EB 205 - NB 5 - EB 120 - SB 99) picking up Sac, Modesto/Merced and Fresno (break) and Bako (fuel) (4 1/2 hrs to be safe).

Bako to Cabazon is 205 miles ( EB 58 - SB 395 - SB 15/215 - EB 10) meeting with SoCal (4 hrs/safe)

30-45 minute break (fuel up)

Cabazon to Quartzsite AZ (93 octane) is 160 miles (EB 10) 80 MPH is 2 hrs (cause there's nothing out here.....)

Quartzsite AZ (fuel up) to Chandler (Courtyard/Marriot) is 150 miles (EB 10) 80 MPH is 2 hrs but figure in traffic in Phoenix, so 2.5 hrs

13ish hours to be there by 6-6:30 puts us leaving Pleasanton by no later than 5AM. So Depart at 5AM, hook up with Sac in Manteca at 5:30; hit Fresno around 7:15-7:30, leave Bako around 9:30, Cabazon around 1:30, leave by 2 to make Quartzsite by 4 and then onto Chandler by 6-6:30 depending on traffic.

So it looks like we will get to the Casino around 1-1:30. I way over estimated the time from Pleasanton to Cabazon but we'll see how long the gas/breaks/meets take.

Then is this what we're sticking with???

Cause I need to confirm traffic control at Kramer Junction (E/B 58 to S/B 395)and stay in contact with the Sgt. for our traffic break at Cabazon when we leave the casino (E/B 10 at Seminole Dr.)

I also think it will be worth a call to the Pilot/Love's and surrounding gas stations in Quartzsite to confirm they'll have enough 93 for us (or plan a delivery).

yup sounds like a plan. Don't know if you guys will make it to Bakersfield in 4 1/2 hours though. I think leaving bakersfield at around 10-10:30 will be more likely. But we will be there at 9:30 no matter what.

I fill at Chevron stations only...lol. What? I work at a Chevron refinery and that is where my gas card is for

But yeah, I'm like a few others here, once I'm on the road I want to make minimal stops and short ones. I usually bring snacks and such if I get hungry on the way so I don't have to stop long. Stop for gas and bathroom and on my way.
