Besides ffrcobra-65, I love how the Mustang owners love to jump in this thread every time it is put out, and posts several novels about what they "think they know", haha.

Just be stoked on your car and drive it, get over it!

That is completely FALSE.

Deliveries are recorded as the delivery to the ultimate customer. The data comes from the dealers.

From GM's press release:
"General Motors total sales in the United States rose 49 percent in February, as dealers reported 207,028 deliveries for the company’s four brands."

Ford just mortgaged the bank and had a fire sale earlier because they were in worst shape than GM before the banking industry went down the crapper. And ford did receive gov't money, just not what was termed as bail out money per se. But it's all good because if I was to put my money on anything it would be to help my fellow man. Especially my middle class/upper lower class workers who would have been jobless due to no fault of their own. It's far better to have a person keep a good job than to have him collect unemployment and loose his lively hood.

As a veteran, I chose like every other person who has ever donned the uniform, to put our own well being after the that of our nation and those who cannot help defend themselves. We do it blindly with faith because it's the right thing to do.

Well, I am a car lover, not a brand lover. In just the past 10 years, I bought cars from Chevy, Ford, BMW, Nissan, VW.... at least 2 cars from each company. I like cars, period.

I spend my hard earned $$ for a product from a company, I enjoy the product for what it is, and that is about it. I could care less if they sell 1 million of the stuff I bought. I got mine and that is where it ends. If I own the company then I would be a crazed advocate for it otherwise, fan-boyism is senseless IMHO and some folks are way too passionate about something they absolutely have no stake in whatsoever.

So no one really knows where there numbers come from, so how can we trust them? Some spastic rodent site that doesn't work? We can't do shit with these numbers until we know the source. Not even worth quoting them.

Last year, GM had trouble paying it back.

Ford doesn't have as big a worry.
Are you serious, GM just had 4.7 billion dollar profit margin, All debts are paid and money is being made and bonuses are being handed out. Get over the bail out already, Ford wanted one to but backed out

Me personally, my passion is the Camaro, not GM. To some it is just a car. I'm sorry, I can't relate to that type of thinking when it comes to my SS. It is so much more than that. Some can understand that, some cannot and that's okay. I don't question peoples passions. It makes them who they are, and that's good thing.

Oh god!!!!

GM does not see the profit from MSRP so why would they track 3500 dealerships, the profits are figured from invoice!!!

Yes GM just ships all of its dealerships the cars as they produce them without the dealer having any say in the matter and without ever recieving any money for those vehicles.. JUST SHIP, SHIP, SHIP!!!.... I didn't sell my stock!!! Oh too bad heres another 20 Camaro's!!!

Special orders fulfill over 90% of all orders done at the dealership...
I walk in and order the car, bank gives me the money.. money goes to the dealer then to Ford/GM. For those of us that buy from the lot, those orders were counted as deliveries the moment the dealer bought them, months ago... ENCS does not report any sales of any vehicle to Ford or Dodge, because the sales delivery takes place when Ford recieves payment... Why would Ford or GM just start shipping cars without receiving any money!!!

Once money is received, that is a sale because the invoice is what monthly profits are figured from, NOT MSRP.

I'm talking about sales reporting... not internal accounting. Monthly sales are reported as sales to the CUSTOMER... as reported by the dealer.

This is a fact.

Invoice is a legal document that is issued from the manufacturer to the buyer (buyer is ALWAYS the dealer). What the dealer does for you is orders the car at INVOICE and turns around and sells it to you at MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price). This is where they make the dealer profit, the price between the Invoice and MSRP... Dirty dealers will mark some vehicles over MSRP because most people don't know what invoice means..

So.. You have Actual cost to build (Known only by the manufacturer), Invoice (Figured above actual cost with profit) MSRP (what the manufacturer suggest the dealer sells it for).. GM/Ford never sees a penny between the Invoice and MSRP... Dealers gotta eat too. Monthly profit is taken from Invoice as well as Sales deliveries...
