There were a few of us early "complainers" that ended up getting the entire transmission replaced due to parts availability. Once GM figured out these weren't isolated problems they quickly got out of the rip and replace mentality and started just replacing the damaged parts.

How do I get GM to acknowledge the problem? Been to 4 dealerships so far they refuse to acknowledge and refuse to shift over 3000 rpm. I was in the car with the tech today and he refused to shift over 3000. Goodwrench services are lame. You give them the test case which they refuse to perform!!! What 's the point of dealing with such ppl? I refuse to call them techs because technicians actually fix problems or at least try to diagnose them!!!

I got an independent diagnostic from Mr. Transmission which GM refused to acknowledge!!!

I am so frustrated with all the Chevy mechanics!!!!!!
One thing is for sure after this I am not buying anything but European cars for the rest of my life.

Mine grinds going into 2nd from any gear at any RPM when speed shifting. 100% of the time when it's cold, intermittent when warm...

EDIT: NVM. Didn't notice this was for you V6 guys...

Glad I found this thread, I too thought it was "just me getting used to the car." I learned to drive a stick when I was 15, and have had several manuals in between (now 26) so I know what I'm doing...

I'm not entirely sure what you guys mean by "bind". But mine definitely makes a grinding sound often enough to be really-freakin-annoying on the 1->2 shift. Seems to always be when I have a high RPM shift.

And by "notchy", do you mean that it feels like you kind of hit something before you can go into the next gear? My 1->2 is definitely like that all the time. I figured it was just a "quirk" of the car and didn't think much of it.

The grinding happened a lot last summer, but I haven't heard it as much over the winter. Probably because I wasn't driving as aggressively But now that it's getting warmer, it's happening again. I can't duplicated it every time, but that may partially just be not wanting to **** up my transmission willingly...

Going to be giving the local dealer a call soon, so glad I found this thread for proof that it's not just me. Car has almost 14k miles, bought it new in April 2010. I hope they can fix it, because I this car too much!

Yep, sounds like the symptoms for this problem. The "notchy" feeling you described is what my first one did from day one. I, too, figured it was just a quirk of the car. My replacement transmission doesn't have this wonderful quirk.

I made 4 or 5 spirited shifts today off the line. They were definitely "notchy" but not grindy. Then after going on a 20 mile bike ride, first shift goes GRRRRRRRRIND. So as soon as I get the chance, I'm going to be taking it to the dealer. I haven't had it happen 2 days in a row in quite awhile, and after reading all the other comments here, I'm afraid it is just going to get worse. Maybe I can get it taken care of before it comes a problem.

Also, I noticed last summer that it did not seem to matter if the Traction/Stability or either combination were on/off.

Welcome to my world. I have been complaining for 8 months. Everyone dissed me and called a hater or troll.
I am glad more ppl are starting to have problems, maybe then GM will get off its ass. As far as the dealership goes good luck I tried 5 dealerships so far no luck. Apparently you should not be able to from 1st to second at 4000 RPM. Btw mine is notchy even in third. I have a lot of experience driving standard so I am prone to notice all the flaws. Notchyness and griding are usually sever problems.

I had no idea I was buying a car that is slower than a Civic. 312hp@6500 rpm . Lool can you shift that high without grinding or binding?

Sometimes, but not every time. I think my body makes me shift before then because it grinds so often when I do....

You guys should try changing your tranny fluids. I switched to Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90 and it smoothed out quite a bit.

I`m going to go a little off-topic but if any of you change the original trans fluid check to see how much fluid drained out, I have seen where some were only getting about 1 QT of original fluid to drain when there should be about 1.9 QT`s. If you were low on trans fluid from the factory I would be very interested to know if this is a common occurrence.

Going of topic here but I have a new symptom. When I am stopped at stop light sometimes it will not go into any gear. So I shutdown the engine pump the clutch a couple of times and then it works. GM magic!!!

I am not prepared to try changing the tranny oil because right now I am looking to trade the dam thing in.

If the idiots they have at Goodwrench do not want to acknowledge the problem what's the point?! and for the record i called them idiots because during the testdrive more than once I asked them to shit at over 3000 rpm or to down-shift at 3000 rpm and they refused!!!! The only option is to wait until the tranny fails and then sue GM for a buy back.
5- dealerships so far ..0 good mechanics. Isn't it great I bought the extended warranty when there are no good mechanics to fix my car?

Powertrain warranty looooooooool!!I am so happy I bought a sports car that red lines at 2500 rpm .
