I am 6'-1" and have the same issues. After a year and a half its really annoying since my car is a daily driver. The center part of my hair stands up all day at work. I find my self out of habit leaning towards the center of the car - dont even know I am doing it until I think about it. I keep a hat in the car for when I am not going to work, dont want hat hair at work. The worse part - I bought ahelmet so I can go to the track. I have to recline the seat just about all the way back to have the helmet on. Feels really unsafe.

WOW!!!!!!!!!! I've had this car since Aug 09 and had no idea you could pull the steering wheel out. Thanks for the insight guys. I've read that damn owners manual multiple times and never remember reading that.

It moves both up/down and in/out. Give it a try.

To the OP.....yeah someone here trader in their sunroof for a non-sunroof because of this. If you just bought the car and get back to the dealer they might be able to work something out. You might have to come up with a little $$$ but this is something that probably won't go away and will bug you for the remainder that you own the car. The quicker you do something about it the less money you'll lose out on.

I'm 6'5" with no sunroof and I have no issues. I still have to put the seat all the way down though.

Hmm how tall are you? I am 6'6 and i love my sunroof, not a problem with the height. I am not trying to be a smart ass here, but have you pushed the seat adjuster at an angle and not just up and down, at an angle it articulates. Im sure you have tried this just thought I would throw it out there.

I'm gonna throw out the obvious....how about combing your hair upon arrival at work...problem solved.

There is no mod I've seen to lower the seat height, and anything you did along those lines could weaken the seat mounting points. You could trade it in for a hard top with the reverse mohawk roof or a convertible...the sooner you do this the smaller a hit you will take.

EDIT.....I see you picked it up Saturday.....many places offer a weekend test drive for potential buyers....go back immediately and ask if you can change into a hard top...you might get out without any money lost if you act quickly and have put minimal miles on the beast.

This height issue has been brought up dozen of times in previous threads. Remember it's your torso height that matters in this situation.

Thanks again for the telescoping fact. So here it is, when I telescoped the wheel and if I sit in a perfect position my hair doesn't touch. If I lean forward or to the right or left it does. To answer every ones question here is what I have done:

telescoped the wheel out
dropped the wheel down to keep my shoulders from rising
put the seat back as far as I could and still reach
put the seat down on the front and back part that you sit on

I am 6'2" but the problem is i barely have a 31" inseam. I definitely have a longer then average torso which gives me the problem.

I called the dealer back today and they are willing to take the car back minus 200 for prep work and restocking. The only other issue is the Synergy Green car I am trading it in on has about 1k less in options. So I don't want to pay the 200 + the 1k in options I am losing. I am waiting to hear back what they are willing to do about that. Thanks for all of the input.

If they want to charge 200 that seems fair, but no way you should have to pay 1k in differences, that should come off.

A custom fabricator can probably make custom seat rails that sit lower. My guess would be this would cost a couple hundred bucks or maybe more.

OR, an upholsterer could probably replace the bottom cushion and recover it with the same leather with something thinner.

Here's a couple of no-cost tips (from a tall guy...):

I find that I have scads of knee room because of the tall dash. This is great because you can move the seat UP towards the wheel slightly so you can still reach the wheel, but recline the seat back a little farther so your head doesn't rub. Make sure your knees are not hitting the dash, though.

Make sure you're not sitting on your wallet. Take it out of your pocket. Not only is it bad for your back (esp tall guys) but it will raise you up.

Static hair sits down when you apply water. On the way in to work, stop by the bathroom, wet your hands, and give your hair a quick sweep.

Or, gently rub a fabric softener sheet on the headliner. This will keep it from generating static when in close proximity to your hair.

^^^ This is also good for fabric seat guys if you get a static charge when getting out of the car. Gently wipe the seats down with a fabric softner sheet (unscented is good unless you want your car to smell like fresh laundry). Voila. No more nasty zap when you exit the vehicle.

To the OP. I would raise the seat up and check for items that may have slipped under the seat. Maybe something is preventing the seat from going ALL the way down. Perhaps even a cable connector or something like that. I'm 6' 0" with a 32" inseam and don't have that problem. My seat is even raised a little because all the way down is too low. I don't use the sunroof a lot, but still like it over the reverse mohawk.
