I agree. From a stand-still lighter weight has an advantage. From a roll weight becomes lees of a factor and horsepower plays a bigger role to break through wind resistance.

Yea when you get to higher speeds like over 80mph HP starts to win because of wind resistance. Reason the first Elise ran 1/4 mile at 13.0 @ 106 but top speed was only 140mph
This is also what helps you beat bike.. 600cc runs quarter 10.8 @ 130mph but top speed is only about 166mph

well, all i can say, is the 5.0 guys in your area are pretty far behind the drag racing curve, AND they are not using good tires. bolt on , tuned boss302 intake'd 5.0's are low 11 cars with a decent driver.

while their power is only a few rwhp higher than a stock intake, the power from 5k-7800 owns a stock 5.0. they never drop below 400rwhp after the first shift. average power is 425-435rwhp at 7300. they pull harder at 7500 than they do at 6500.

those are bolt on cars, and their numbers are growing every day as the boss intake becomes readily available.



highest MPH i heard of is 178mph on the open road....gear limited. he needs 3.08's for a real try at 185mph.

Ive heard Budget Rent a car has 2011 GT's for $54 a day and the base auto's just so happen to be the quickest of all the GT's = WINNING

You should have no problem running 12's just like former SS and C5 member HeaterMan did his first time out running 12.8's @110.9 in his not even broken in 3.15 geared auto. That way you can see, hear, and feel a 2011 GT run 12's and for only $54. It think it would be a fun outing especially if you could take both cars.

I'm even jealous of how well the auto's are doing in the 1/4. VMP has a woman driving their 2011 shop car in the 9's with the stock engine, stock auto trans, stock Ford Racing 2.3L TVS but pulled to make 12psi and running on C16. My GT500 will never be able to run consistent and easy 9's like an 5.0L with an auto. Oh well, I knew that going into my purchase and after driving a new GT I'm even happier with my GT500. Quick ET's isn't everything, but it sure is fun.

so far i have run a bone stock best of 12.66 @112 mph no tune .. no CAI and no drag radials. here is a bit of proof in video form. this is not my best but is a good example.
