Yeah but if the cars are just sitting there, GM is going to have to help the dealers out, regardless of invoice/MSRP. Even the new 2009 G8 GXP has a $3000 Cash Allowance incentive on it right now.

So here is the million dollar question: For those luck few that have ordered @ GM discounts what will be our price when the car arrives? Will that be at the pre-order rate or the new rate when it shows up?
For example, I have an order in @ supplier pricing however, all dealers I have talked to stated that it's just an estimate right now because they wont know until later. They have estimated 4% over invoice. So, if that price goes up later [i.e. post 3/15] will my supplier pricing be loced in @ invoice as it stands today or will it be subject to that later post 3/15 pricing?

No offense to GM, but they're going to have a difficult time selling these things as it is; surely they're smart enough to know to keep the price down, especially with the Challenger and the upcoming ecoboost Mustang on the Camaro's heels.

Catch Camaro If You Can

Daniel,

Counting down the days until you can get behind the wheel of your very own all new Camaro? You're in fast company. Less than one month remains to preorder one at introductory prices.1 Be one of the first to own a true 21st-century sports car.

So does this mean that pricing will go up for those whom did not order?

Exactly. At this point MSRP is not considered a "good deal" by most at its current dollar figure. What's it gonna be like when these cars have been out for a couple of months, are collecting on dealer lots, etc.

Like everything else the initial hype will wear off and there you are with a car you over paid for. I mean if this were a Cobalt or an Impala would anyone pay MSRP?

Keep your wits about you folks. Don't get caught up in the hype. This is a buyer's market. Set the price you'll pay and stick to it and that should NOT be MSRP.

I think they need to add this disclamer also
"and if you order a V6 model you will be put behind all the dealers getting a V6...all 4,000+ so don't expect your V6 Camaro before July..."

BINGO. I know many here are excited about their new car...I admire those of you confident enought to spend up to 40K on a car you have not sat in or test driven, I honestly could never do that.

Case in point...I was soooo ready to buy an 09 Challenger RT last week, Went to the local dealer, he hemmed and hawed about me test driving her off the show room floor. Long story short, I drove it...and was disappointed. Big, heavy...numb steering....what a let down.

I hope the Camaro is better, but I would not bet 40 k on it.

Stay rational folks...no way anyone should be paying even MSRP these days, but life is all about choices.

I will sit back, wait and see. Maybe next year I will buy one. Cheaper.

Yup just got that email to my work email address, just came to see if anyone else got it, guess so. I'm locked in with my pre-order so no worries for me but I do think if they are going to raise the prices afterword... how is that going to help the average buyer to want to buy?

Unless they think the proposed tax break for new car buyers would allow the raise in msrp to wash.
