I'll be 42 in August....what I recall most about end of the road in 02 was the Camaro outperformed the Mustang in all areas except the biggest one...price. Loaded F Bodies were far more expensive than the Mustang.

GM killed the platform to persue the high demand for the SUV...not the smartest choice they could have made to say the least.

Oh you not going to bring in the..
Its a 10sec car. It ran a 10 with just a few bolt-ons
(and all the ford guys leave out that one of the bolt-ons was a 150 shot)

Well, in GM's defense, the SUV at the time made up over 60% of all vehicle sales. GM almost didn't have a choice, but, I think if the internet was more widely used there would have been a louder outcry.

As for performance, the base GT did not really stand a chance against the Camaro/Firebird's SLP cars. It was the Cobra that change everything and outperformed the two. The base GT did however make up a majority of the sales which carried the aftermarket to almost $32 billion dollars a year for Ford and it's aftermarket clan.

Ford smart too they offer real ford performance pieces.. not just a axle back to make car louder.. like the whipple supercharger..
For alot of people like me if a car a lil slower it is no big deal.. I can make a car faster.. as long as engine is stout.. (which 4.6 lack.. ford got smart with 5.0 though)

Edit: Also, the number built is incorrect on the tag pictured above. The tag says #590 of 5082, there were 13,476 Cobra's built in 2003 and 5,664 built in 2004.
There was 5082 convertibles built.

Woodbine Motorsports has the bolt-on record in the 5.0 right now with a 11.12@122. They were shifting at 7700rpms... The Boss intake makes power up there...

Cool video man, thanks for sharing that. C&D says the 2003 Cobra did the quarter in 12 seconds at 111mph but it was more like a 12.7, pretty much what the 5.0's run now. If you think about it, the 2003-04 Cobra's were almost identical in almost every aspect of performance and physical dimensions. They produced similar power, were almost equal in performance with the new GT's having an advantage in handling and a hair faster and both vehicles weighed almost the same/cost the same.

Again, cool video man...

Bring back the Terminator, the last real mustang . I don't care if the 11 GT500 is faster, nothing put fear into a street racer more than the 03/04 Cobras. The car did one thing great, and many things good.

Ford will put up the numbers as soon as they sell the 2012 GT500's, it would also depend on the ZL1's public info too. The ZL1 should be almost finished and the GT500's will be at 90% by July...
