Not many tire manufacturer make a good 21in tire for our car, therefore they go for a premium.
+1

Otherwise, make sure your dealer gives you the original 20" wheels and tires... you're paying for both sets (the 21" w/t pkg is a dealer option on top of the 20's the car comes with - that's why its so expensive)

Damn 50K! sometimes these prices make me cringe, when I bought my '80 camaro it was $5600 & my monthly payment was $93.00

Yeah and it was also made out of leftover parts and ran about 4 sec slower in the 1/4 than a new ss.

If you build one loaded, 21 inch wheels, the price is over 50K. That is way to much for a vert in my mind.

That was my reasoning in not getting the 21" too. Hopefully it will not be that way for long before it becomes an option installed at the plant (and I will be able to get my hands on a set ).

Sounds like the yellow vert over at Courtesy at the Airport they had arrive over the weekend either they added the 21” wheel package or they added the sucker sticker.

Thanks, I'll keep the price of the tires in mind, but I'm not about to cancel the order now after waiting so long (ordered middle of Jan TPW 3-21).

If the price of the 21's is so much, I could always just buy a set of 20's when the 21's wear out.

Hmmm. Didn't know that. I'll ask. Never hurts to have a spare set of whells/tires.
Thanks.

Thanks.
I just stopped at my dealer and asked him about the wheels that come with the car vs the 21" that I ordered.

He checked and confirmed (to my surprise) that yes I will get BOTH sets of wheels/tires.

I though that perhaps since the car was ordered with the 21" black painted wheels that the factory would just put the entry level wheel/tires on it for delivery purposes, but the dealer told that since the car is a 2ss/rs, that's the set of wheels/tires that get shipped on it.

Since then I stopped at BeckD's dealer, talked to the GM, and he also confirmed that in that case (since the 21's are a Dealer upgrade) that I'd get BOTH sets of wheels/tires if I ordered the 21"'s.

That way perhaps I can drive the 21's in the summer and the stock 20's in the winter?
