Fog Lights

ok all i am new at this so please go easy on me. anyway i bought my 2SS back in february and it was actually nice in Chicago today so i finally broke 100 miles on my car today. this evening i have been trying to figure out how to activate the fog lights but after looking in the manual i cant for the life of me figure it out. the manual states if you have day time running lights then the fogs dont function??? i see the fog lights, they have bulbs in them but dont come on??? again please go gentle. i have been on duty for the last 16 hours up until i drove my car so i am a little sleep deprived.

If it is a 2SS/RS then the lights you're looking at are DRL (Daytime Running Lights) only. If you want to be able to control them you will need to purchase an aftermarket harness.

The RS does not have fog lights. The fog lights are actually DRL lights. So you don't have the ability to turn them on at night.

I wish GM would have given us a switch for the driving lights so we could put them on and off any time we want.

I agree. For how complex these cars are electrically, it wouldn't have taken a lot of effort to have them switched with the headlights.

Is there a law in the 'States, requiring new cars to have DRLs? I know it's on the way here.

Nope and it would be unlikely we would get one. Here in the U.S. jurisdiction for automotive law rests with each individual state and not the central government. All states would have to agree for it to happen, otherwise car companies would literally have to make different spec cars for every state.
