Be careful with the t-shirt wiping... A friend of mine does the same technique, and he used his jacket one time. We were at a Friday night Gathering, and we hear the fateful M'F'er... and low and behold, there was a two inch scratch on his hood from the zipper in his jacket... a momentary lapse and it cost him time out of the Camaro while it was ni the shop... We all felt terrible because we know how well he takes care of his Camaro...

I use the bowtie too, that's why I haven't replaced it with a SS yet, I'd then have to touch the paint to close the trunk.

I have a larger problem. Often, it won't close at all when I slam it on the hands or feet of a reluctant trunk passenger, usually my mother-in-law.

Gently apply pressure to the bowtie. Then pull the truck lid downward. Not much force is needed to shut the trunk.
