I think the break-in period is nonsense. I have had 12 GM vehicles in the last 10 years, all brand new, and some I was nice to them and others I wasn't. My 2004 GTO... I beat it up the first night taking it home. Never had a problem with it.

That thing was 'broken in' when the first Hertz customer ran it out to 7,000 rpm doing a smoky burnout when it had 12 miles on it.

Do you have any idea how AWFUL rental cars are treated by the general public, especially a new model year 'performance' car?

No worries, though. I've owned ex-rentals before. The engine and everything else always hold up long and well. It's usually the transmission that sees the most abuse...I don't know if you can check the fluid in the V6 models, but if you can, it's worth doing just to make sure it's a) full and b) the right color (should be transparent red, should not smell burnt. Should smell like oil.)

Moreover, I bought the GMPP (major guard) extended warranty for 5 yrs/50k miles. Nonetheless, I LOVE my new Camaro; I name it "The Velociraptor". Thanks ALL!!!
Congrats - there's reams of useful information on this site, just start reading...

BTW, you don't need to break in a car w/ 14K miles...

PS - Half the people on this site claim (including mechanics from some vendor companies) that the best way to break in a new car is to, basically, drive it like you stole it. So who knows, perhaps you'll get a very long life from the car...
